Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.
***WARNING***
Some may find the lyrics of the songs, and the imagery of the videos, quite disturbing. So, be prepared to close your eyes and ears at any moment, but please keep your heart and mind open.

If It Makes You Happy
Sheryl Crow
I’ve been long
A long way from here
Put on a poncho
Played for mosquitoes
And drank ‘til I was thirsty again
We went searchin’
Through thrift store jungles
Found Geronimo’s rifle
Marilyn’s shampoo
And Benny Goodman’s corset and pen
Well okay
I made this up
I promised you
I’d never give up
If it makes you happy
It can’t be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad
You get down
Real low down
You listen to Coltrane
Derail your own train
Well who hasn’t been there before
I come around
Around the hard way
Bring you comics in bed
Scrape the mold off the bread
And serve you French toast again
Well okay
I still get stoned
I’m not the kind of girl
You’d take home
If it makes you happy
It can’t be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad
If it makes you happy
It can’t be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad
We’ve been far
Far away from here
Put on a poncho
Played for mosquitoes
And everywhere in between
Well okay
We get along
So what if right now
Everything’s wrong
If it makes you happy
It can’t be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad
If it makes you happy
It can’t be that bad
If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad

A Change Would Do You Good
Sheryl Crow
Ten years livin’ in a paper bag
Feedback baby
He’s a flipped out cat
He’s a platinum canary
Drinkin’ Falstaff beer
Mercedes rule
And a rented Lear
Bottom feeder insincere
Prophet lo-fi pioneer
Sell the house and go to school
Get a young girlfriend
Daddy’s jewel
A change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
God’s little gift is on the rag
Poster girl posin’ in fashion mag
Canine
Feline
Jekyll and Hyde
Wear your fake fur
On the inside
Queen of South Beach
Aging blues
Dinner’s at six
Wear your cement shoes
I thought you were singing
Your heart out to me
Your lips were synchin’
And now I see
A change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
A change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
Chasin’ dragons with plastic swords
Jack off Jimmy everybody wants more
Scully and Angel on the kitchen floor
And I’m callin’ Buddy on the Ouija board
I’ve been thinkin’ ‘bout catchin’ a train
Leave my phone machine by the radar range
Hello it’s me
I’m not home
If you’d like to reach me
Leave me alone
I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
Hello it’s me
I’m not at home
If you’d like to reach me
Leave me along
I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
Oh I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
Oh I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good
Oh I think a change
A change would do you good
Would do you good
A change would do you good

Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Katie!!! I'm glad you liked this.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear PJ!!! She can get a little raw at times, but I suppose that is all about what the youngins call "keeping it real." I don't remember just where I was the first time I heard "If It Makes You Happy" on the radio while I was still out there truckin', but I do remember exclaiming out-loud, "Whoa, who was that?"
ReplyDeleteI've never been a big sheryl crow fan but I do like her voice.
ReplyDeleteEvery day is a winding road...
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! I don't like everything she has done, but there are a few of her songs that I do really love.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is another one of her songs that I love. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Auld Reekie Mike!!!
