ATF: Four-Track Favs

This series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Green River
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Well
Take me back down where cool water flow y’all
Let me remember things I love
Stoppin' at the log where catfish bite
Walkin' along the river road at night
Barefoot girls
Dancin' in the moonlight
I can hear the bull frog callin' me
Wonder if my rope's still hangin' to the tree
Love to kick my feet way down the shallow water
Shoefly
Dragonfly
Get back to mother
Pick up a flat rock
Skip it across
Green River

Well

Up at Cody's camp I spent my days
With flat car riders
And cross-tie walkers
Old Cody Junior took me over
Said
You're gonna find the world is smoulderin’
And if you get lost
Come on home to
Green River

Well

Come on home

Windy
The Association
Who's peeking out from under a stairway
Calling a name that's lighter than air
Who's bending down to give me a rainbow
Everyone knows it's
Windy

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who's reaching out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's
Windy

And Windy has
Stormy eyes
That flash at the
Sound of lies
And Windy has
Wings to fly
Above the clouds
Above the clouds
Above the clouds
Above the clouds

And Windy has
Stormy eyes
That flash at the
Sound of lies
And Windy has
Wings to fly
Above the clouds
Above the clouds
Above the clouds
Above the clouds

Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who's reaching out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's
Windy
Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who's reaching out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's
Windy
Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who's reaching out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's
Windy
Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who's reaching out to capture a moment
Everyone knows it's
Windy
Who's tripping down the streets of the city
Smiling at everybody she sees
Who's reaching out to capture a moment…

ATF: Back in the Day

Downtown
Petula Clark
When you're alone and life is making you lonely
You can always go
Downtown
When you've got worries all the noise and the hurry
Seems to help I know
Downtown
Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk
Where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose
The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles
Forget all your cares

So go
Downtown
Things will be great when you're
Downtown
No finer place for sure
Downtown
Every thing's waiting for you
Downtown
Downtown

Don't hang around and let your problems surround you
There are movie shows
Downtown
Maybe you know some little places to go
To where they never close
Downtown
Just listen to the rhythm of a gentle bossa nova
You'll be dancing with 'em too before the night is over happy again
The lights are much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles
Forget all your cares

So go
Downtown
Where all the lights are bright
Downtown
Waiting for you tonight
Downtown
Uou're gonna be alright now
Downtown
Downtown
Downtown

Downtown

Downtown

And you may find somebody kind to help and understand you
Someone who is just like you
And needs a gentle hand
To guide them along
So maybe I'll see you there
We can forget all our troubles
Forget all our cares

So go
Downtown
Things will be great when you're
Downtown
Don't wait a minute more
Downtown
Everything is waiting for you
Downtown
Downtown
Downtown
Downtown…

Mother Freedom
Bread
Freedom
Deep walkin'
Keep on your toes
And Don't stop talkin' 'bout
Freedom
Get goin'
Lots to be learned
And lots to be knowin' 'bout
People
Gotta reach 'em
Sit 'em right down
And then you gotta teach 'em 'bout
Freedom
Gotta win it
Gotta put yourself smack dab in it

Hey
Tomorrow
Now don't you go away
'Cause
Freedom
Just might come your way

Freedom
Keep tryin'
People stay alive
And people keep dyin' for
Freedom
So don't lose it
You gotta understand
You just can't abuse it
Freedom
Get movin'
Never gonna stop
‘Til everybody's groovin' on
Love for
One another
Callin' some friend
And callin' some brother

Hey
Tomorrow
You're not so far away
Mother
Freedom
We'll know you well someday

PDC

PDC (Puppy Don’t Care) and probably neither do you.  Nonetheless, I am compelled to tell you that I must sulk back into the shadows for at least the next 4-5 weeks.  For it is getting down to crunch-time for the launch of the new site, and I still have A LOT of work to do.

Alas, I was planning on launching the new site this Friday.  For April Fool’s Day seemed like a most appropriate day for such an endeavor, but it was advised that I could do a lot of the things beforehand that I thought had to wait until after the site went online.  Subsequently, why pay good money for a month of hosting when I do not really want anyone visiting yet?

Okay, I suppose it won’t hurt to spill most of the beans now.  For the only thing I want to keep secret is the name I hope to secure, and even that would not be a problem if it was not for there being far too many very unscrupulous opportunists in cyberspace, who would not think twice about purchasing the domain name ahead of me and offering to sell it at an exorbitant price.  As far as the content of the new site goes, it is going to be a site directory that will launch (all in accordance unto our Heavenly Father’s will, of course) with over 5,000 sites listed by categories and country of origin (when that can be determined).  The goal is to have as many sites as possible listed before it is all over with.

What we hope will set our site directory apart from all of the others already in existence is that we will be listing the sites ourselves instead of having the owner send in the information via a form, which is meant to help insure the validity of content and the safety of visitors.  Now, safety cannot be insured, but if we made it back from a particular site unscathed, you should be able to, as well.  Oh, and there is another thing that should make our new directory more attractive than others, which won’t be revealed until you can see it for yourself.

So, I must diminish your lives by my frequent absence again for at least the next 4-5 weeks.  I will try to leave a comment once a week on my regular stops just to prove that I am still alive, but I certainly do not expect you to leave any comments on the posts here that I have already scheduled until the first of June.  Yeah, life in this world certainly appears to be grossly unfair, but I think putting up with me is well worth it.  Puppy don’t care, of course.

A Sunday Drive

Back during our childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and me after Sunday morning church services for a leisurely drive around where we lived.  Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them again, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again.  The link below the image is to the site itself, and the image is linked to the post it was first included in here.

ATF: Hung Up

You Keep Me Hanging On
The Supremes
Set me free
Why don't cha babe
Get out my life
Why don't cha babe
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
You don't really need me
But you keep me hangin' on

Why do you keep a-coming around
Playing with my heart
Why don't you get out of my life
And let me make a new start
Let me get over you
The way you've gotten over me

Hey

Set me free
Why don't cha babe
Let me be
Why don't cha babe
Woo oh oh
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
Woo oh oh
Now you don't really want me
You just keep me hangin' on

You say
Although we broke up
You still wanna be just friends
But how can we still be friends
When seeing you only breaks my heart again
And there ain't nothing I can do about it

Woo oh oh oh
Set me free
Why don't cha babe
Woo oh oh
Get out my life
Why don't cha babe
Woo oh oh
Set me free
Why don't cha babe
Get out my life
Why don't cha babe
You don’t really love me
But you keep me hanging on
Woo oh oh
You don’t really need me
But you keep me hanging on

You claim you still care for me
But your heart and soul needs to be free
Now that you've got your freedom
You wanna still hold on to me
You don't want me for yourself
So let me find somebody else
Hey hey
Why don't you be a man about it
And set me free
Woo oh oh
Now you don't care a thing about me
You're just using me
Woo oh oh
Go on
Get out
Get out of my life
And let me sleep at night
Woo oh oh
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
Woo oh oh
You don’t really need me
So
Let me be
Set me free

Turn Me Loose
Loverboy
I was born to run
I was born to dream
The craziest boy you’ve ever seen
I gotta do it my way
Or no way at all
And I was here to please
I'm even on knees
Making love to whoever I please
I gotta do it my way
Or no way at all
And then you came around
Tried to tie me down
I was such a clown
You had to have it your way
Or no way at all
Well I've had all I can take
I can't take it no more
I'm gonna pack my bags and fly
My way
Or no way at all

So why don't you
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
I gotta do it my way
Or no way at all
Why don't you
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
I gotta do it my way
I wanna fly

I'm here to please
I'm even on my knees
Making love to whoever I please
I gotta do it my way
I gotta do it my way
And when you came around
You tried to tie me down
I was such a clown
You had to have it your way
Well I'm sayin' no way

So why don't you
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
I gotta do it my way
Or no way at all
Why don't you
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
I gotta do it my way
I gotta do it my way
Why don't you
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
Turn me loose
I gotta do it my way
I wanna fly
