TWO FOR TUESDAY {REDO}

Link: [Foreigner]

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

I Want To Know What Love Is
Foreigner
I gotta take a little time
A little time to think things over
I better read between the lines
In case I need it when I’m older

Now this mountain I must climb
Feels like the world upon my shoulders
Through the clouds I see love shine
It keeps me warm as life grows colder

In my life
There’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know
If I can face it again
Can’t stop now
I’ve traveled so far
To change this lonely life

I want to know what love is
I want you to show me
I want to feel what love is
I know you can show me

I’m gonna take a little time
A little time to look around me
I’ve got nowhere left to hide
It looks like love has finally found me

In my life
There’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know
If I can face it again
Can’t stop now
I’ve traveled so far
To change this lonely life

I want to know what love is
I want you to show me
I want to feel what love is
I know you can show me

I want to know what love is
I want you to show me
And I want to feel
I want to feel what love is
And I know
I know you can show me

Let’s talk about love
I want to know what love is
The love that you feel inside
I want you to show me
And I’m feeling so much love
I want to feel what love is
No you just cannot hide
I know you can show me

Yeah
I want to know what love is
Let’s talk about love
I know you can show me
I want to feel it too
I want to feel what love is
I want to feel it too
And I know
And I know
I know you can show me
Show me love is real
Yeah
I want to know what love is
I want to know
I want you to show me
And I want to know
Want to know
Want to know
I want to know

Long, Long Way From Home
Foreigner
It was a Monday
A day like any other day
I left the small town
For the apple in decay

It was my destiny
It’s what we needed to
They were telling me
I’m telling you

I was inside
Looking outside
Oh the millions of faces
But still I’m alone

Waiting
I was ever waiting
Paying a penance
I was longing for home

I’m looking out
For the two of us
I hope you’ll be here
When they’re through with us

I was inside
Looking outside
Oh the millions of faces
But still I’m alone

Waiting
I was ever waiting
I could feel the tension
I was longing for home

I’m looking out
For the two of us
And I hope we’ll be here
When they’re through with us

Monday
Sad, sad Monday
Oh she’s waiting for me
I’m a long, long way from home
Sad, sad Monday
Oh she’s waiting for me
I’m a long, long way from home
Sad, sad Monday
Oh she’s waiting for me
I’m a long, long way from home
Sad, sad Monday
She’s waiting for me
But I’m a long, long way from home

  1. I just had a flashback to the late 70's where I was cruising around with my friends on a friday night and foreigner was playing in the 8 track :)

  2. 8-Track! Oh my goodness, do you remember 4-Tracks? The very first tape I ever had was a 4-Track of CCR's Green River. Oh, and I really thought I was getting with the program when I finally converted over to cassettes. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!!

  5. "I Want To Know What Love Is" the cry of every person on earth.

Foreigner aptly and accurately captures the longing of our hearts through this song. Yes, it may not be "Christian" in the definitive sense but we know that Jesus satisfies the yearning and can bring to us people who can love us in His name.

I enjoyed listening to the song (twice so far) that I shared this link with all of my Twitter friends at @mattkeegan and @theautowriter -- Facebook too!

  9. Thank you so very much for that observation, my dear Matthew. Surely you got that from our Heavenly Father. For it is the same as the one He gave me about that song, and in regards to the other one, I have spent most of my life feeling a long, long way from home. This remains as such to this very day, but at least I have now been given a great assurance that I will be indeed welcomed home when time comes for our Heavenly Father to gather all of His children by faith unto Himself to spend all of eternity with Him in His Kingdom of Heaven as an heir to all that is His glory. Thanks for stopping by!!!

  10. Oh my, they do have so many songs to bring back so many memories--don't they? Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Anne!!!

  11. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Auld Reekie Mike!!! I absolutely loved that song when it first came out, but after hearing it being played on the jukebox at least a couple dozen times each and every day my first wife and I worked at a truck-stop back in the fall/winter of '77, I came to loathe it. When she ran me off seven years later, it took on a completely new meaning to me. Not that I came to love it again, of course.

  13. My dad used to say that anything worth having is worth working hard for. That is another thing he was right about. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Dorothy!!!

  14. Actually, Foreigner charted for the first time in 1977 and "I want to know what love is" charted to number one in 1984. I remember singing it at the top of my lungs in my car commuting to college...oops my age is showing. :-) Thanks for sharing them.

  15. Hmm, I wonder if it was "Cold As Ice" that was their first song to make the charts in '77? Anyway, I'm glad you liked the songs here, and I wouldn't worry about the age thing. Math is hard--don't cha know? Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Clueless!!!

  16. FishHawk,

Close, that one was second. Their first charting hit was "Feels Like the First Time." By the way, "I Want To Know What Love Is," was their only number one hit in the U.S. I don't know about elsewhere. (I like music trivia!!)
