Come Monday...Lost My Marble

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about,  websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time.  Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.”  This is subject to change, however.  In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while.  For rants promote change, and change can be good—right?  Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

Last week started off with my wife, Arlynda, receiving notice on Monday that her employment with [UHC] had been terminated, and it ended on Friday with her being diagnosed with [cirrhosis] of the liver.  Yeah, I know that there are a couple more days in there somewhere, but I am invoking the right of artistic license to depict an appearance of symmetry.

Be assured that it was not the same with her cirrhosis diagnosis as it was with her losing her job (and supplemented health insurance coverage).  For we had been expecting her to lose her job on account of failing health for several months, but that cirrhosis diagnosis snuck right up on us.

As just indicated, we knew that there was something going on.  Although, her failing health was attributed to a cornucopia of other delights, such as various diabetic complications, sleep apnea and you can just about name it.

Nonetheless, Arlynda got real serious about what we originally thought was her retaining fluid a couple of months ago, which was diagnosed as the result of [ascites].  I haven’t kept accurate records, but I think they have drained close to 200 pounds of fluid (seriously) out of her abdomen so far, which is usually a very pleasant procedure to undergo (being sarcastic here).  It took a new doctor to the area to figure out that the ascites was a result of the cirrhosis, and she is supposed to go see a liver specialist/transplant surgeon in St. Louis next month.

Oh, the title to this edition is in reference to the fact that I have apparently lost my last marble.  For instead of being curled up in a fetal position under the bed, here I am trying real hard to make light of a very grave situation.  In fact, there is not a hint of worry in my naturally completely paranoid mind!

No, I have not fallen prey to the devil’s game of getting a Christian to think that the Lord is always there to save the day for those who will but have enough faith in Him.  For I have no doubt that Ezekiel was as fine of a servant as He ever called, and you can read about what He did to him [here].

Just to be clear, I know that our Heavenly Father really is there for me.  For a few months ago, He specifically told me in an audible voice (as opposed to just communicating through a thought in my mind) that He would take care of me, but the absolute truth of the matter truly is that I may have to wait awhile longer for my rescue from this miserable life that I have been given to live.

On the other hand, I am also told that taking care of someone can have more than one meaning, but I am fairly sure where that is coming from.  No, the devil and his demons do not always have sweet nothings to whisper in our ears.

Getting back to my missing marble, I’m not sure if I want it found.  For I am rather enjoying being a light-hearted lunatic for a change.

Don’t worry, I should be back to my absolutely miserable old self soon enough.  For I wouldn’t be living such a miserable life as a light-hearted lunatic—now, would I?

Trib Updates

This is a weekly series that will include a brief summary of the latest articles that have been published on The Tribulation Times Herald-Exhorter.  Hopefully, this will encourage you to go check out some truly outstanding articles that have been published by a number of truly outstanding authors.  Moreover, I hope this will also encourage you to want to become a contributing member/author, as well.  The “Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!” site explanation near the top of the side-bar should answer many of your questions.  Yes, this series also included an “SOS! (Spam On Saturdays)”  segment before, but it just wasn’t working for me.  Therefore, that will be replaced by a republishing of one of the Trib articles.

[I Feel The Son] contains a video and the lyrics to Guardian’s Like The Sun.

[ESPN Additions] shows just how far Brad Keselowski will go to win.

[WhiteHeart Wednesday] has a video and the lyrics to Even The Hardest Heart.

[Recalling The Past Without Regrets] is by Christine Mousseau about getting past mistakes.

My wife was informed a few minutes ago that her employment with [UHC] has been terminated.  As I have said [before] in other places, this news has been expected for quite some time now, and it is almost a relief that the ax finally fell.

Since nothing about such was discussed, neither one of us know just how long our internet connection will last, but it shouldn’t take more than 2-3 days (a week, at most) before we are back online when our current arrangement is also terminated.  So, if I miss a publishing deadline or two, be assured that I will be back!

Oh, and I hope that my wife will be joining me online soon.  Of course, she could not possibly be as informative and entertaining as I am, but she sometimes tries hard.

In any event, I expect you-all to behave yourselves.  For she will surely take it out on me if you-all do not, and I have enough scars already.

Impending Service Interruptus

Today may finally be the day when my wife, Arlynda, loses her job as a claims processor for [United Healthcare].  Be assured that it has been a long time possibly coming.  In fact, she has been on “final warning” status several times since last January on account of her own steadily declining health condition, but the company kept allowing her (naturally-speaking, of course) to move to a different team that was assigned a different task in the process, which would start the clock all over again.  So, regardless of just how much the powers that be at the company are truly aware of the part that they have been playing in our Heavenly Father’s plans for us, they certainly cannot be held in any disdain over expecting their employees to perform at a certain level.

Anyway, United Healthcare has been paying for our internet connection since they let her start working from home, and with the service actually being in their name, along with consideration being given to the sensitivity of the information she regularly handles, I fully expect our connection to be severed very soon (if not immediately) upon the completion of the final determination of her employment status, which could come at any time during the next few hours.  Needless to say, with me being such a wonderful person in every way, shape and form, I did not want to leave any of you wondering what may have happened after noticing that I have stopped publishing “stuff.”  Hence, the reason for this rather melodramatic notification.

No, I do not expect to be offline for very long, but considering the fact that customer satisfaction is as high on [Mediacom’s] list of corporate priorities as it is on most of the other cable companies’ lists, it may take several days before they get over here to set things up again.  Ironically, this will actually be saving us a bunch of money.  For as we are getting another internet connection in our name again, we will be also putting our cable television service in our name again.  Alas, it is a long stupid story about how we came to have to put it in Arlynda’s mother’s name when we first moved to where we have been living for the last six years or so, but suffice to say that we will all be very happy to finally be able to get it straightened out…we hope.

Yeah, I may have done went and really lost my mind this time.  For the change in our cable service is not the only thing that I am actually looking forward to.  For I have got it in my head that Arlynda will be allowed and enabled to make it fairly big in the blogosphere, along with some other possible avenues for financial income opening up for us to travel.

Nonetheless, it is going to be some very tough sledding for at least a little while.  For aside from what little [S.S.I.] provides us, we will be losing our own health insurance, and I am most definitely not looking forward to becoming so personally acquainted with what [Obamacare] has to offer so soon.  Still…

***UPDATE***
7:00 p.m. CDT October 9, 2012
Well, I don’t know what to tell you.  For she participated in the scheduled phone conference with her bosses and the rest of the team she is currently on, and after it was over, which is when she expected her main boss to break the news, nothing was said either way.  So, I will keep on keeping on until someone has the plug pulled.

Morning After
Maureen McGovern
There's got to be a morning after
If we can hold on through the night
We have a chance to find the sunshine
Let's keep on lookin’ for the light
Oh can't you see the morning after
It's waiting right outside the storm
Why don't we cross the bridge together
And find a place that's safe and warm

It's not too late
We should be giving
Only with love can we climb
It's not too late
Not while we're living
Let's put our hands out in time

There's got to be a morning after
We're moving closer to the shore
I know we'll be there by tomorrow
And we'll escape the darkness
We won't be searchin’ anymore

There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There's got to be a morning after
There’s got to be a morning after
