Again?

I am beginning to think that the North Pole may very well be some sort of magical place.  For I have reported on a tragedy that appears to keep happening for several years now.  Moreover, cameras record the very same things being done and sung each and every time, with the latest footage being what you just watched.  Okay, I know that it looks like the evidence was uploaded to YouTube over seven years ago, but what is not so well known is that Google is quite serious about going green.  So, after they bought YouTube a few years back, they immediately instituted a policy of recycling time-stamps in order to lessen their overall digital footprint.  By the way, the Department of Homeland Security swears that no enhanced interrogation techniques were employed to get Santa to sing/confess.

Oh my, it is indeed a rather disturbing thought (or two).  For not only does this provide proof of black magic actually existing, it also supports the premise that no good can come from developing a taste for reindeer sausage!  ‘Tis a woeful day for us all, I fear.

Sites To See #425

The SOLE purpose of this series is to help call attention to sites that I think many would find most interesting—in one way or another.  Just to be clear, inclusion in this series is not necessarily meant as an endorsement, and I have included sites that I found rather disturbing.  The link below each image is to the site itself, and each image is linked to the particular post from which it was taken when applicable.  Please, go see for yourself.  Oh, and as of August 10, 2012, I will be no longer including sites that have auto-play and word verification engaged.

ATF: Bandstanding

This series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

I’m Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band
The Moody Blues
I'm just a-wandering on the face of this earth
Meeting so many people
Who are trying to be free
And while I'm traveling I hear so many words
Language barriers broken
Now we've found the key

And if you want the wind of change
To blow about you
And you're the only other person to know
Don't tell me
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band

A thousand pictures can be drawn from one word
Only who is the artist
We got to agree
A thousand miles can lead so many ways
Just to know who is driving
What a help it would be

So if you want this world of yours
To turn about you
And you can see exactly what to do
Please tell me
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band

How can we understand
Riots by the people
 For the people
Who are only
Destroying
Themselves
And when you see a frightened person
Who is frightened by the people
Who are
Scorching
Scorching
This earth
Scorching
Scorching
This earth

I'm just a-wandering on the face of this earth
Meeting so many people
Who are trying to be free
And while I'm traveling I hear so many words
Language barriers broken
Now we've found the key

And if you want the wind of change
To blow about you
And you're the only other person to know
Don't tell me
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band

I’m just a singer in a rock and roll band

How can we understand
Riots by the people
For the people
Who are only
Destroying
Themselves
And when you see a frightened person
Who is frightened by the people
Who are
Scorching
Scorching
This earth
Scorching
Scorching
This earth

Music is the traveler
Crossing our world
Meeting so many people
Bridging the seas
I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band
I’m just a singer in a rock and roll band
Music is the traveler
Crossing our world
Meeting so many people
Bridging the seas
I’m just the singer in a rock and roll band
We're just the singers in a rock and roll band

We Are an American Band
Grand Funk Railroad
Out on the road
For forty days
Last night in Little Rock
Put me in a haze
Sweet sweet Connie
A-doin’ her act
She had the whole show
And that’s a natural fact
Up all night
With Freddy King
I got to you
Poker’s his thing
A-boozin’ ladies
Keep me right
As long as we can make it
To the show tonight

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band

Four young chiquitas
In Omaha
Was waitin’ for the band
To return from the show
Feelin’ good
Feelin’ right
It’s Saturday night
The hotel detective
He was outta sight
Now these fine ladies
They had a plan
They were out to meet
The boys in the band
They said
Come on dudes
Let’s get it on
And we proceeded to tear
That hotel down

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band
Yeah
We’re an American band
Yeah
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band
Hey hey hey hey
We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band
We’re an American band
Ooh ooh
We’re an American band
Ooh ooh
We’re an American band
Ooh ooh

A Sunday Drive

Back during our childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and me after Sunday morning church services for a leisurely drive around where we lived.  Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them again, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again.  The link below the image is to the site itself, and the image is linked to the post it was first included in here.

ATF: Well-Seasoned

ATF: Mondays

Long Long Way From Home
Foreigner
It was a Monday
A day like any other day
I left the small town
For the apple in decay
It was my destiny
It’s what we needed to do
They were telling me
I’m telling you

I was inside
Looking outside
The millions of faces
But still I’m alone
Waiting
I was over waitin’
Paying a penance
I was longing for home
I’m looking out
For the two of us
I hope we’ll be here
When they’re through with us

I was inside
Looking outside
Oh the millions of faces
But still I’m alone
Waiting
I was over waiting
I could feel the tension
I was longing for home
I’m looking out
For the two of us
And I hope we’ll be here
When they’re through with us
I’m coming home

Monday
Sad sad Monday
She’s waiting for me
But I’m a long long way from home
Sad sad Monday
She’s waiting for me
But I’m a long long way from home
Sad sad Monday
Ah she’s waiting for me
But I’m a long long way from home

Come Monday
Jimmy Buffett
Headin' up to San Francisco
For the Labor Day weekend show
I've got my hushpuppies on
I guess I never was meant for glitter rock and roll
And honey I didn't know
That I'd be missin' you so

Come Monday
It'll be all right
Come Monday
I'll be holdin' you tight
I’ve spent four lonely days in a brown L. A. haze
And I just want you back by my side

Yes it's been quite a summer
Rent-a-cars
And westbound trains
And now you're off on vacation
Somethin' you tried to explain
And darlin' it's I love you so
That's the reason I just let you go

Come Monday
It'll be all right
Come Monday
I'll be holdin' you tight
I’ve spent four lonely days in a brown L. A. haze
And I just want you back by my side

I can't help it honey
You're that much a part of me now
Remember that night in Montana
When we said there'd be no room for doubt

I hope you're enjoyin' the scenery
I know that it's pretty up there
We can go hikin' on Tuesday
With you I'd walk anywhere
California has worn me quite thin
I just can't wait to see you again

Come Monday
It'll be all right
Come Monday
I'll be holdin' you tight
I’ve spent four lonely days in a brown L. A. haze
And I just want you back by my side
I’ve spent four lonely days in a brown L. A. haze
And I just want you back by my side
