Cyndi Lauper vs. The Hooters

Time After Time
Cyndi Lauper
Lyin'
In my bed
I hear the
Clock tick
And think of you
Caught up
In circles
Confusion
Is nothing new
Flashback
Warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcase
Of memories
Time after
Sometimes
You picture me
I'm walkin’
Too far ahead
You're callin’
To me
I can't hear
What you've said
Then you say
Go slow
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds

If you're lost
You can look
And you will find me
Time after time
If you fall
I will catch you
I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost
You can look
And you will find me
Time after time
If you fall
I will catch you
I'll be waiting
Time after time

After
My picture fades
And darkness
Has turned to grey
Watchin’
Through windows
You're wondering
If I'm okay
Secrets stolen
From deep inside
The drum beats out of time

If you're lost
You can look
And you will find me
Time after time
If you fall
I will catch you
I'll be waiting
Time after time

You said
Go slow
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds

If you're lost
You can look
And you will find me
Time after time
If you fall
I will catch you
I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost
You can look
And you will find me
Time after time
If you fall
I will catch you
I'll be waiting
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after

  1. Truly one of my favorite tunes. Funny how I relate songs to people's stories. So many people (I know) live within the lines of these very songs, never knowing...but they do. Makes me wonder for a few lost souls, (road raging and lonely) if they'd only heard the words.....!
BTW I really like the style of your blog!

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Karen!!! Back when our Heavenly Father started making Himself real unto me, it became clearer and clearer that certain songs playing in my head at rather opportune times were no coincidence. Of course, I sure wished I could turn them off when they helped point out where I was in the wrong. (LOL?)

  5. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Be assured that my wife would much rather listen to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun."

  6. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Yeah, she wins, but it may interest you to hear that while doing a little research on The Hooters, it came as quite a shock to find that the two main guys of the group co-write several of the songs, including this one, as well as help produce her first album. Speaking of such, I could remember that there were two Hooters songs that blew me away back then, but "And We Danced" was the only one I could remember the title to. Well, I need to be more thorough in my research. For it was while seeking to confirm that they helped write this song that I noticed that "Day By Day" was a huge hit for them around the same time as "And We Danced" was, and it is the other song that I was looking for. I will be included in the next round for The Hooters. Sigh.

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! I wasn't familiar with the song at all. So, I had to look it up on YouTube, and like Cyndi, both song and its video is a little different.
