TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Everybody’s Talkin’
Harry Nilsson
Everybody’s talkin’ at me
I don’t hear a word they’re sayin’
Only the echoes
Of my mind
People stop and starin’
I can’t see their faces
Only the shadows
Of their eyes

I’m goin’ where the sun keeps shinin’
Through the pourin’ rain
Going where the weather
Suits my clothes
Bankin’ off of the northeast winds
Sailin’ on summer breeze
And skippin’ over the ocean
Like a stone

I’m goin’ where the sun keeps shinin’
Through the pourin’ rain
Going where the weather
Suits my clothes
Bankin’ off of the northeast winds
Sailin’ on summer breeze
And skippin’ over the ocean
Like a stone

Everybody’s talkin’ at me
Can’t hear a word they’re sayin’
Only the echoes
Of my mind
I won’t let you leave
My love behind
No I won’t let you leave

I won’t let you leave
My love behind

Jump Into The Fire
Harry Nilsson
You can climb a mountain
You can swim the sea
You can jump into the fire
But you’ll never be free
You can shake me up
Or I can break you down
Whoa
Whoa
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy

You can climb a mountain
You can swim the sea
You can jump into the fire
But you’ll never be free
You can shake me up
Or I can break you down
Whoa
Whoa
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy

You can climb a mountain
You can swim the sea
You can jump into the fire
But you’ll never be free
No no
You can shake me up
Or I can break you down
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy

  1. @Everybody's talking' was a good song at the time. I saw 'Midnight Cowboy' (just for the sex scenes) and this song opens the film with Johnboy wanting to move on. It spoke to my teenage heart as I wanted that 'freedom' also. That desire now ruins my life!
    Good song but crap film.

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! According to statistical analysis, exactly five and a half people with access to a television that picks up more than two channels have not seen Midnight Cowboy, and I must admit that I am one of them. The same applies to Casablanca. Alas, maybe I have lived a much more sheltered life than I would like to believe?

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! I'm sorry, but I never really liked that song. It was, however, really fun to sing along with when I've had a really good buzz going, and I am glad you provided a link to it for those who do like the song (sober or not).

  5. Oh, how I remember how much I liked Nilsson. Do you remember the animated television show, "The Point," where he sang and narrated the show? http://youtu.be/U1n9QTkrkP0

His last top 40 American hit was "Daybreak" which was from a rarely seen movie, "Son of Dracula" starring Nilsson and Ringo Starr.

    Just a bit of trivia.

  6. been a long time since I've heard that. Grace's song suggestion wasn't necessarily one of my favorites but it can get you moving if you can listen to it

  7. As soon as I saw the name, I was thinking Jump into the Fire ... and then I scrolled down to find the delight.

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Clueless!!! Well, I went 0 for 4 on those. For I don't remember ever hearing of Me and My Arrow, nor the television show, nor the movie, nor Daybreak. I wonder where my head was at back then?

  9. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! I imagine Duke could come up with some really cool dance moves for Coconut--especially if there is a slab of bacon in it for him.

  10. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Frank!!! Well, Jump Into The Fire caught me plumb off-guard. For it is a song that I remember well, but I always thought it was from Jimi Hendrix. Sure shows what a broad range Nilsson could cover--doesn't it?
