The Box Tops vs. Joe Cocker

The Letter
The Box Tops
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain’t got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone
I’m a-goin’ home
‘Cause my baby
Wrote me a letter
I don’t care how much money I gotta spend
Got to get to my baby again
Lonely days are gone
I’m a-goin’ home
‘Cause my baby
Wrote me a letter

Well she wrote me a letter
Said she couldn’t live without me no more
Listen mister
Can’t you see I got to get back
To my baby once more
Anyway yeah

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain’t got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone
I’m a-goin’ home
‘Cause my baby
Wrote me a letter
My baby
Wrote me a letter

Well she wrote me a letter
Said she couldn’t live without me no more
Listen mister
Can’t you see I got to get back
To my baby once more
Anyway yeah

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain’t got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone
I’m a-goin’ home
‘Cause my baby
Wrote me a letter
My baby
Wrote me a letter

The Letter
Joe Cocker
Give me a ticket for an aeroplane
I ain’t got time to take no fast train
Oh the lonely days are gone
I’m comin’ home
Oh my baby
She wrote me a letter

I don’t care how much I’ve got to spend
Whoa I must find my way back home again
Oh the lonely days are gone
I’m comin’ home
Yeah my baby
She wrote me a letter

Well she wrote me a letter
Said she couldn’t live
Without me no more
Listen to me mister
Can’t you hear me ravin’
For my baby once more
Anyway

I don’t care how much I’ve got to spend
I must find my way way back home again
The lonely days are gone
I’m comin’ home
My baby
She wrote me a letter

Well she

Well she wrote me a letter
Said she can’t live
Without me no more
Listen to me mister
Oh can’t you hear me ravin’
For my baby once more
Anyway

Give me a ticket for an aeroplane
I ain’t got time to take no fast train
Oh the lonely days are gone
I’m comin’ home
My baby
She wrote me a letter

My baby
My baby wrote me a letter
Wrote me now
My baby wrote me a letter
My baby wrote me a letter
My baby wrote me a letter
My
My baby wrote me a letter
My baby wrote me
My baby wrote me a letter
Done wrote me a letter
My baby wrote me a letter
Done wrote me a letter now
My baby wrote me a letter
Oh my baby
My baby wrote me a letter
My baby
My baby wrote me a letter
She done wrote
My baby wrote me a letter
She done wrote
My baby wrote me a letter
My baby wrote me a letter
My baby wrote me a letter
My baby wrote me a letter

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ryan!!! I was surprised to see your comment. For I haven't been able to leave one on a Blogger/Blogspot site for several hours, and I was fairly sure that it was over the entire network. I am not so sure now. For I just tryed to leave a reply through Firefox, and I got the same message that I have been seeing. So, I am trying to leave this through IE8, and if it works, just know that I really like Cocker's version, as well. Nonetheless, the orginal is not bad at all.

  3. I was expecting to like Joe Cocker better than The Boxtops but they are equally good, if different. I was surprised to see the Boxtops were white, I always assumed they were black...go figure.

(P.S. at 7:30 this morning I tried leaving a comment and blogger wasn't working!)

  6. I think I'm having a deja vu moment. I feel like I read this post yesterday and I can recall leaving a comment that I like the Box tops better.
Blogger sure has things messed up

  7. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Yeah, you did leave a comment before, but it got zapped, along with this post. According to what I have read, they are working to restore what was taken down, which includes the comments. I'll give them a couple of days, and if they don't, I'll post all of the lost comments myself, along with a reply. I wonder if one of the techs had his girlfriend in the main control booth, and she said, "What will happen if I push this button?"

Since the Blogger spam filter has been found sorely lacking lately, I will start moderating comments. Be assured that I am only interested in deleting spam. So, if you feel a need to take me to task over something—even anonymously, go ahead and let 'er rip, and I will publish it as soon as I can.
