Good, Bad and Ugly Ads

Since I have not been given much of a life, I watch an awful lot of television, which includes an awful lot of commercials.  Now, a “GOOD” ad is one that holds my attention and makes me want to at least learn more about the product or service it is for.  A “BAD” ad is one that quickly becomes nothing more than background noise when it cannot be skipped over.  “UGLY” ads are much worse.  For not only do they make we want to never see them again, they make me want to never have anything to do with the company that paid for them to be produced.  Of course, you may feel differently, but I sure wouldn’t say much about it around anyone with a lick of sense.  For I am, after all, an expert on such things—albeit only in my own mind!

BAD

  1. Like we don't get enough of this crap watching television - you have to put them on your blog - snores and bores every one, and no I wouldn't give more than 20 seconds of my life- I'm getting old and time is precious, not gonna waste any of mine on these. Phbbft!

  2. Sorry mate, I have to agree with Grace. I read blogs out of interest in the people writing them, not to watch stuff off Youtube.

  4. Well, my dear Grace, I was hoping to hear from you soon, and I am now reassessing that desire. (LOL?) Anyway, it good that you-all survived the storm.

  5. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Tony!!! Well, there is supposed to be a running theme to the ads that are included in each edition, with one often contradicting another. (Sometimes not.)

  8. Good old Obama! A man who cares for the weak, the poor and has made America acceptable in the wide world (which does exist outside the US). Mitt will make you a leper state once again.

  10. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! I hear you, but far too many in this country are quite deaf. On the other hand, be assured that President Obama and his bunch do not care as much as they let on--especially about those who do not vote as expected.

  11. I know I am weird but in a way political ads are a form or art. Whether they be Democrat or Republican how they are structured and made says a lot about the candidate.

I tend to look down on ads that spell doom and gloom but even they speak volumes about the people who respond to them.

  12. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Beach Bum!!! I fully agree with you, but it really bothers me when an incumbent feels like they cannot be reelected without millions for ads in their coffers. For if they had been doing a good job of keeping their constituents informed of what they have been doing, there should not be anything else needed to insure another term (if they have been doing a good job, of course)--except for maybe responding to the twisting of facts by their opponents, which could be considered as being negative.

  13. P.S.: To get more specific, my dear Beach Bum, I have received dozens upon dozens of emails from the Obama campaign, with all of them having at least something to do with getting a donation. In fact, the last several have been wailing about how much more Romney has been receiving in donations, and if you might think that these are coming from an outside group that is not directly connected to his campaign, most of the emails have been made to look like they are actually coming from either Barack or Michelle. Okay, some have been from the celebrated Mr. Biden, as well.
