I used to rule the
world
Seas would rise
when I gave the word
Now in the morning I
sleep alone
Sweep the streets I
used to own
I used to roll the
dice
Feel the fear in my
enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd
would sing
Now the old king is
dead
Long live the king
One minute I held
the key
Next the walls were
closed on me
And I discovered
that my castles stand
Upon pillars of
salt
And pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem
bells are ringing
Roman cavalry
choirs are singing
Be my mirror
My sword and shield
My missionaries
In a foreign field
For some reason I
can't explain
Once you go there
was never
Never an honest
word
And that was when I
ruled the world
It was the wicked
and wild wind
Blew down the doors
to let me in
Shattered windows
and the sound of drums
People couldn't
believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries
wait
For my head on a
silver plate
Just a puppet on a
lonely string
Oh who would ever
want to be king
I hear Jerusalem
bells are ringing
Roman cavalry choirs
are singing
Be my mirror
My sword and shield
My missionaries
In a foreign field
For some reason I
can't explain
I know Saint Peter
won't call my name
Never an honest
word
But that was when I
ruled the world
I hear Jerusalem
bells are ringing
Roman cavalry
choirs are singing
Be my mirror
My sword and shield
My missionaries
In a foreign field
For some reason I
can't explain
I know Saint Peter
won't call my name
Never an honest
word
But that was when I
ruled the world

ruled the world
Ruled the world
Ruled the world

...and I wonder why Saint Peter or Saint Mary won't call her name? Smiles! I do enjoy to follow her creative mind....and she can sing...and there are so many that speak poorly of her (we've all heard it) but I think secretly they wish they had dreamed up her idea of marketing, don't you think?!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Karen!!! Yeah, she is an event everywhere she goes, and in all fairness, she was just covering Coldplay's song. Nonetheless, the lyrics make me shutter.
ReplyDeleteP.S.: I was just shown where the lyrics to this song are actually about Satan's situation--not Jesus', and that they are extremely true to the actual reality of his situation, as well! So, my feelings about the song have changed dramatically.
ReplyDeleteGaga is talented but she is just a little beyond me.
ReplyDeleteColdplay are suicide music and it is clear why she chooses the slapper route!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Beach Bum!!! Same here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! I am not quite sure just what the "slapper" route is, but I am fairly sure that I do not want to know. (LOL?)
ReplyDeleteconsidering the choices, regardless of who does the song better I must go with coldplay
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Well, I think Coldplay's version is beautiful. So does Arlynda. So, there!
