“Come
Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary
about, websites, movies, documentaries,
television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the
time. Be assured that these reviews will
be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come
Monday.” This is subject to change,
however. In fact, I would be most
derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while. For rants promote change, and change can be
good—right? Therefore, since good is
generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel
universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being
something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).
I
will not be voting this coming election, and I greatly resent the claim that
those who do not vote forfeit their right to complain about the results. For I do not want to lend my support to
either President Obama or Mitt Romney, and an option to vote for none of the
above is not given.
Yeah,
I suppose I could use the write-in option, but does this really count for
anything? If I believed it did, I would
be all for exhuming and reanimating [Pat Paulsen]!
Okay,
the main reason for why I will not be voting this year has more to do with
failing to register for permanent absentee status than with my great lack of
enthusiasm for the presidential candidates this time around. For there are plenty of more local candidates
I would like to vote for and even more I would like to vote against.
The
same applies to several issues up to be voted on, such as drastically raising
the state tax on tobacco products for the benefit of our children (again). For there is not a doubt in my mind that all
of that money would go into the general fund to be used at the discretion of
those holding the purse strings, just like all of the money from the state
lottery that is supposed to be paying for improvements to our school systems.
Alas,
there is so much more that I would like to share with you, but it will have to
wait until later. For my typical 15%
energy capacity is struggling to reach 8% this morning, and my batteries have
not recharged properly for over 20 years now.
So,
the current plan is to add an update with a link to the rest of this story when
it becomes available for consumption on The Trib. Be assured that I would like to assure you
that this will be accomplished later on today, but Arlynda swears that I am not
to be trusted. Sigh.

I voted for Pat Paulson the year he ran - Yes, I did - wrote in his name. One year, when I lived in Vermont, I wrote my own name in for sheriff. I like to do stuff like that when I can...
ReplyDeleteRespectfully disagree on the presidential race, I am voting for Obama. While Obama is far from perfect reviewing Romney's record and his past statements that can flip flop in less than a day at times I cannot in good conscious sit by and not express my vote.
ReplyDeleteAs for the local race in my area I have a long history of voting for Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Jame T. Kirk, and even myself.
In any election it is no longer choosing the best candidate, it's a matter of choosing the lesser of two evils
ReplyDeleteArlynda makes sense to me!
ReplyDeleteA vote for Mitt would see America regarded as a leper around the world. Another 'Dubya' but without the intellect!
Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! You may have just inspired me for next time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Beach Bum!!! Well, if Obama follows Clinton's example in regards to what he did in his second term, we really would be much better off with him winning, but...
