NCIS: New Orleans

[NCIS: New Orleans] has Arlynda and me rather perplexed.  For after watching an introduction to the New Orleans NCIS crew in an episode of plain ol’ [NCIS] last season, we were both looking forward to the newest spin-off coming to fruition this fall, and now, neither one of us want to watch anymore of New Orleans.  Oh, but the actual perplexing part is that we don’t have any specific reasons for why we do not want to watch the show any longer.

No, it has nothing to do with it starring [Scott Bakula].  For Arlynda has had a schoolgirl crush on him since his [Quantum Leap] days, and my virility is not threatened by his.

I suppose it simply comes down to the show just not working for us, but that doesn’t make any sense.  For it focuses a lot of emphasis upon the culture of the region, which we are both fascinated with.  Granted, Arlynda did not really enjoy actually visiting the [French Quarter] when we were able to take a day off from the truck while down there over 20 years ago, but seeing it all from a distance is quite a different story.

Yes, NCIS: New Orleans may be just what you have been looking for while we will continue to wait in eager anticipation for what [Gibbs] and [Heddy] does about this or that each week.  ‘Tis a rather simple life we live.  Sigh.

  1. Maybe they should just bring back Quantum Leap. I liked that show

  2. We never got into NCIS... mind you, I'm into a lot of TV lately. All seems so irrelevant and similar...

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Shadow!!! Well, we suspect that they are employing a huge amount of artistic license when it comes to the scenarios depicted, but we really enjoy the interaction between the characters. Arlynda especially loves Abby, the ace forensics lab tech on the original NCIS, who would probably be held for extended observation in an insane asylum in real-life.

  3. Oh gosh I have such a different opinion, it works for me. My daughter is in fact going to New Orleans today with her hubby, daughter and hubby's family from Gulf port, Ms. I asked her to take any photos she can related to N.C.I.S I'm sure there will be something there. Funny thing about the French Quarter my first visit, by myself, I heard later was not a good idea, but gee whiz they have so many cool antique shops I couldn't resist. Hubby and I had the most delicious steaks there served in a quaint little place served on wobbly tables complete with checkerboards on most, and the tastiest soup served in a huge kettle and passed around! We partied until wee hours with a group of friends, (real live sing along piano bars) and did make it to a few other tourist hot spots.(not their unsafe they cemetery though sadly- we were warned stay away) Maybe you had too high of expectations for the show??? I was really sad when both NCIS shows had reruns already last week. I sure hope the show makes it.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Karen!!! Wow, you had the French Quarter experience we wish we had. Maybe our problem was that we did not wander too far away from the main strip on Bourbon Street?

Yes, we really did have very high expectations for NCIS: New Orleans, and its characters simply do not stack up with those on the other two to us. Methinks the reason for the early repeats was on account of November 4 being the mid-term election night.

    2. Yes it was, election night! I hope you still give them a chance, because I think you may get more of a feel for the characters yet. The short haired girl, I can't think of her name, was previously on Dirty, Sexy Money I think it was called. She didn't really fare well for me in that show, her character wasn't as likable but she's better here. Stick with it! My daughter sent me three photos from their shoot going on down there from Nov 10 thru Nov 17. No actors in them but cool (especially the NCIS while filming, no parking sign!

    3. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Karen!!! Hey, your daughter might get "discovered" down there! Our Brad Pitt, who is a native of here in Springfield, MO, was "discovered" while walking around the Mall of America in your neck of the woods. So, stranger things have happened.

  4. I've never been to New Orleans but I've heard nothing but great things about it from fellow travelers.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! While traveling to places in a big truck and on the job, one doesn't usually get to see all that much, but I can add my vote to New Orleans being an amazing place just from the little I was able to see. By the way, I was still backed up to a loading dock down there as Hurricane Andrew started coming ashore to the south of town in '92. Thankfully, I was well into Arkansas before it clipped the western edges of New Orleans, and it was real spooky listening to the live radio accounts in the dead of the night as I drove through parts were overhead lights were very few and far between.
