TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

We’re An American Band
Grand Funk Railroad
Out on the road
For forty days
Last night in Little Rock
Put me in a haze
Sweet sweet Connie
Doin’ her act
She had the whole show
And that’s a natural fact
Up all night
With Freddy King
I got to you
Poker’s his thing
A-boozin’ ladies
Keep me right
As long as we can make it
To the show tonight

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band

Four young chaquitas
In Omaha
Was waitin’ for the band
To return from the show
Feelin’ good
Feelin’ right
It’s Saturday night
The hotel detective
He was outta sight
Now these fine ladies
They had a plan
They were out to meet
The boys in the band
They said
Come on dudes
Let’s get it on
And we proceeded to tear
That hotel down

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band

Yeah yeah yeah yeah

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band

Hey hey hey hey

We’re an American band
We’re an American band
We’re comin' to your town
We’ll help you party it down
We’re an American band

We’re an American band
Ooh ooh
We’re an American band
Ooh ooh
We’re an American band
Ooh ooh

Some Kind Of Wonderful
Grand Funk Railroad
I don’t need a whole lots of money
I don’t need a big find car
I got everything that a man could want
I got more
Than I could ask for
I don’t have to run around
I don’t have to stay out all night
‘Cause I got me a sweet
A sweet lovin’ woman
And she knows just how to treat me right

So my baby
She’s all right
So my baby
She’s clean out of sight
Don’t you know that she’s
She’s some kind of wonderful
Yes she is
She’s
She’s some kind of wonderful
You know she is
She’s
She’s some kind of wonderful
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

When I hold her in my arms
You know she sets my soul on fire
Ooh when my baby huggin’ on me
My heart becomes filled with desire
When she wraps her lovin’ arms around me
About drives me out of my mind
Yeah when my baby kissin’ on me
Chills run up and down my spin

My baby
She’s all right
My baby
She’s clean out of sight
Don’t you know that she is
She’s some kind of wonderful
She’s
Some kind of wonderful
Yes she is
She’s
Some kind of wonderful
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Now is there anybody
Got a sweet little woman like mine
There’s got to be somebody
Got a
Got a sweet little woman like mind

Can I get a witness
Can I get a witness
Can I get a witness
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Can I get a witness
Oh
Can I get a witness
Yeah
Can I get a witness
Yes

I’m talkin’
Talin’ ‘bout my baby yeah
She’s some kind wonderful
Talkin’ ‘bout my baby
She’s some kind of wonderful
I’m talkin’ ‘bout my baby
My baby
My baby
She’s some kind of wonderful
I’m talkin’ ‘bout my baby
My baby
My baby
She’s some kind of wonderful
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
My baby
My baby
She’s some kind of wonderful
Talkin’ ‘bout my baby
My baby
My baby
She’s some kind of wonderful

Some kind of wonderful

  1. Dreadful! Dreadful! Dreadful!
I saw this lot in Hyde Park in 1971 and they were dreadful live also! An American 'Supergroup' patched together in a vain attempt to be the equal of 'Cream.' A sad failing.
Bland empty stuff. The US, especially the West Coast, produced lots of great bands, and this lot were not among that number!

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! It's good to know that you are feeling better.

A vain attempt to be the equal of Cream? No, I don't think so. Not that they did it. For Cream was a truly great band, but I don't think they were even trying. Of course, I could be wrong. (Not that I would ever admit it in front of you!)

  3. Regardless of what Adullamite thinks I happen to love the song American band. That one took me back. I can remember turning it up REAL loud when that song came on :)

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Oh my, so did I. In fact, I still do! On a more sobering note, however, the spiritual significance of the song to me is a reminder of the kind of life I wanted to live before, and I should be more thankful that it was not nearly as much fun as I had hoped.
