TFT: David Cook

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Light On
David Cook
Never really said too much
Afraid it wouldn’t be enough
Just try to keep my spirits up
When there’s no point in grieving
Doesn’t matter anyway
Words could never make me stay
Words will never take my place
When you know I’m leaving

Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light
A fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Even in the daylight
Shine on
And when it’s late at night
You can look inside
You won’t feel so alone

You know we’ve been down that road
What seems a thousand times before
My back to a closing door
And my eyes to the seasons
That roll out underneath my heels
And you don’t know how bad it feels
To leave the only one that I have ever believed in

Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light
A fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Even in the daylight
Shine on
And when it’s late at night
You can look inside
You won’t feel so alone

Sometimes it feels like we’ve run out of luck
When the signal keeps on breaking up
When the wires cross in my brain
You’ll start my heart again
When I come along

Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A naked light
A fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I’m gone
Even in the daylight
Shine on
And when it’s late at night
You can look inside
You won’t feel so alone

Fade Into Me
David Cook
All I feel now
Is the weight of the day
I need you with me
To push it away
When we disappear
Into each other
Our colors appear
And bleed into one

Fade into me
Fade into you
The two of us melting together
Until we become something new
And we can escape
And watch the world chasing to find us
Both of us hidden from view
If you fade into me
Fade into me

When I'm broken
You're the one thing I need
Like an ocean
I feel you crash over me
When we disappear
Into each other
Our colors appear
And bleed into one

Fade into me
Fade into you
The two of us melting together
Until we become something new
And we can escape
And watch the world chasing to find us
Both of us hidden from view
If you fade into me

Let go
Fall in
Drown in the moment with me
Sinking 'til we start to break

Fade into me
Fade into you
The two of us melting together
Until we become something new
And we can escape
And watch the world chasing to find us
Oh fade into me
Fade into you
The two of us melting together
Until we become something new
And we can escape
And watch the world chasing to find us
Both of us hidden from view
If you fade into me
Fade into me
Fade into me

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! I like "Light On" a lot better in the video version than what I heard at the end of a Jimmy Kimmel show some time back. For David was slurring the lyrics pretty badly. Nonetheless, I liked the song enough to want to feature it when it came his turn in this series.

  3. Who, pray tell, is David Cook? Why do all these young singers sound alike. Why do all the songs sound alike? There are a few interesting musical bits in that song - tho I have to admit I didn't listen to the whole thing, or the other in entirety either. Basically boring music and lyrics full of mixed metaphors...When I was young, a million years ago, the lyrics were quite awful most of the time but the music rocked!
