Early Mornin’ Rain
Peter, Paul and Mary
In the early mornin’ rain
With a dollar in my hand
And an achin’ in my heart
And my pockets full of sand
I’m a long way from home
And I miss my loved one so
In the early mornin’ rain
With no place to go
Out on runway number nine
Big seven-o-seven set to go
But I’m out here on the grass
Where the pavement never grows
Well the liquor tasted good
And the women all were fast
There she goes my friend
She’s a-rollin’ down at last
Hear the mighty engine roar
Hear the mighty engine roar
See the silver wing on high
See the silver wing on high
She’s away and westward bound
Far above the clouds she’ll fly
Where the mornin’ rain don’t fall
And the sun always shines
She’ll be flyin’ o’re my home
In about three hours time
This old airport’s got me down
It’s no earthly good to me
‘Cause I’m stuck here on the ground
Cold and drunk as I might be
Can’t jump a jet plane
Like you can a freight train
So I’d best be on my way
In the early mornin’ rain
So I’d best be on my way
In the early mornin’ rain

I'm in tears here......
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! It is indeed a very sad song.
ReplyDeleteAlways a musical education when I visit FishHawk.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Ryan!!! I hope it's a good one.
ReplyDeleteGordon Lightfoot! hands down :)
ReplyDeleteWell that song doesn't make a bit of sense - What's with the PP&M kick?
ReplyDeletelet me see, I think I shall go with Gordon Lightfoot
ReplyDeletePeter Paul and Mary!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Jel!!! Yeah, especially for a song like this. For his voice has such a mournful tone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! I'm not quite sure what you mean. For if you are referring to what Gordon said, he was saying this was a song he actually wrote that they recorded long before he did. If it is in regards to them being included so many times lately, it is just on account of it being their turn in the schedule, and when it comes time for John Denver, I'm afraid you'll have to suffer through another round with them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Good choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Sandie!!! Alas, you can be so contrary at times.
ReplyDeleteNo, I meant the song doesn't make any sense - I read the lyrics - and all I came up with is ???? Waste of time and while I like Gordon Lightfoot and PP&M - I like them in very small doses LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Yeah, it does have some strange lyrics, but when your heart is shattered in a million pieces, minute details don't really matter.
ReplyDeleteOh is that what it is about - someone's heart shattered into a million pieces? I didn't get that at all...
