ATF: Mixed Signals

This series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Shout
The Isley Brothers
Well

You know you make me wanna
Shout
Kick my heels up and
Shout
Throw my hands up and
Shout
Throw my head back and
Shout
Come on now
Shout
Don't forget to say you will
Don't forget to say
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Yeah
Say you will
Say it right now baby
Say you will
Come on
Come on
Say you will
Say it
Will you
Say you will
You got it now
Say
Say that you love me
Say
Say that you need me
Say
Say that you want me
Say
You wanna please me
Say
Come on now
Say
Come on now
Say
Come on now
Say

I still remember
Shooby-doo-wop-do-wop-wop-wop-wop
When you used to be nine years old
Shooby-doo-wop-do-wop-wop-wop-wop
Yeah yeah
I was a fool for you
From the bottom of my soul
Yeah
Shooby-doo-wop-do-wop-wop-wop-wop
Now that you've grown up
Shooby-doo-wop-do-wop-wop-wop-wop
Enough to know
Yeah yeah
Shooby-doo-wop-do-wop-wop-wop-wop
You wanna leave me
You wanna
Let me go
Shooby-doo-wop-do-wop

I want you to know
I said I want you to know right now
Yeah
You been good to me baby
Better than I’ve been to myself
Hey
Hey
And if you ever leave me
I don't want nobody else
Hey
Hey
I said I want you to know
Hey
I said I want you to know right now
Hey
Hey

You know you make me wanna
Shout
Hey yeah
Shout
Yeah yeah yeah
Shout
All right
Shout
All right
Shout
Come on now
Shout
Come on now
Shout
yeah yeah yeah
Shout
yeah yeah yeah
Shout
Yeah yeah yeah
Shout
Yeah yeah yeah
Shout
All all-right
Shout
It's all all-right
Shout
All all-right
Shout
All all-right
Aaah

Now wait a minute
I feel all right
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Ooooooh
Now that I got my woman
I feel all right
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Yeah yeah
Every time I think about you
You been so good to me

You know you make me wanna
Shout
Lift my heels up and
Shout
Throw my head back and
Shout
Kick my heels up and
Shout
Come on now
Shout
Take it easy
Shout
Take it easy
Shout
Take it easy
Higher
Shout
A little bit softer now
Shout
A little bit softer now
Shout
A little bit softer now
Shout
A little bit softer now

Hush
Deep Purple
Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

I got a certain little girl
She’s on my mind
No doubt about it
She looks so fine
She’s the best girl
That I ever had
Sometimes she’s gonna
Make me feel so bad

Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

Hush
Hush
I thought I heard her
Callin’ my name now
Hush
Hush
She broke my heart
But I love her just the same now
Hush
Hush
Thought I heard her
Callin’ my name now
Hush
Hush
I need your lovin’
And I’m not to blame now
Love love
I got it early in the mornin’
Love love
I got it early in the evenin’
Love love
Well I want that
Need it
Love love
Oh I gotta
Gotta have it

She’s got lovin’ like quicksand
Only took one touch of her hand
To blow my mind and I’m in so deep
That I can’t eat y’all
And I can’t sleep

Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

Hush
Hush
I thought I heard her
Callin’ my name now
Hush
Hush
She broke my heart
But I love her just the same now
Hush
Hush
Thought I heard her
Callin’ my name now
Hush
Hush
I need your lovin’
And I’m not to blame now
Love love
I got it early in the mornin’
Love love
I got it early in the evenin’
Love love
Well I want that
Need it
Love love
Hey I gotta
Gotta have it

Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

Naa na na na
Na na na
Na na na

Naaa

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Jenny!!! The 60s on is much more preferable to my musical tastes, but you are right about some of the 50s being simply unbeatable.

  2. First you tell me to shout then you tell me to hush. Make up your mind already :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! I'm sorry, I recently had to complete an online course on political correctness (don't ask) and giving a voice to both sides of issues was a big part of it.

  3. The white guy ain't an Isley Brother - he is Clay Cole host of a tv teen dance show...

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! Well, I will concede that Lulu had a couple of truly outstanding points about her (especially when dressed in tight sweaters).

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lin!!! The part burned into my brain is the backup singer hollering out, "Yeah yeah! Yeah yeah!"

  6. All this shouting and hushing!

Have you ever heard the Australian version of "Shout" by the late Johnny O' Keefe, Jerry? His version was a huge hit in the day (in the night, too)!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! No, I had not heard of Johnny O'Keffe's version before. I just looked it up on YouTube, and it was GREAT!

    2. O'Keefe was quite the lad here in those years. He was very popular. He hosted his own TV music show..."Six O'Clock Rock"...it was on at 6 pm every Saturday. My brother in particular loved Johnny O'Keefe...the Wild One!

A nephew of his, Andrew O'Keefe is now a TV host and Andrew looks very much like his uncle, his father's brother, both of whom have passed away. Andrew O'Keefe followed his father for a while into law...his father was a judge.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_O%27Keefe

But the lure of television and stage was stronger than the lure of the law! :) I like Andrew O'Keefe...he is very witty, very fast-moving, alert mind. He's presently appearing in another stage musical...or is about to do so. A regurgitation of "The Pirates of Penzance", I think....one of the light operas by the famed Gilbert & Sullivan

And after that somewhat lengthy lesson in history trivia...I'll leave you to read the rest of it in detail and in peace...

    3. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Lee!!! I could certainly hear why at least Johnny would be considered an Australian national treasure.

    1. Whoa, I suppose I should make sure of what edition you are commenting on before replying--huh? I am going to blame it on still being upset over what Mutt Lange did to Shania Twain, if you don't mind.
