This series will include as many of my all-time
favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak). Now, each one included in each edition will
have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination,
but they will not be numbered. For I
just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others. So, this will not be a countdown, but if you
are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter. Besides, with no countdown, this could go on
forever and ever! Oh, and despite the
fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite
as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make. For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by
nature.

Piece of My Heart
Janis Joplin
Oh
Come on
Come on
Come on
Come on
Didn't I make you feel
Like you were the only man
Yeah
And didn't I give you nearly everything
That a woman possibly can
Honey
You know I did
And
And each time I tell myself that I
Well
I think I've had enough
But I'm gonna show you baby
That a woman can be tough
I want you to
Come on
Come on
Come on
Come on
And take it
Take another little piece of my heart now baby
Oh
Oh
Break it
Break another little bit of my heart now darling
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Oh
Oh
Have a
Have another little piece of my heart now baby
Well you know you got it
If it makes you feel good
Oh yes indeed
You're out on the streets lookin’ good
And baby deep down in your heart
I guess you know that it ain't right
Never
Never
Never
Never
Never
Never hear me when I cry at night
Babe
And I cry all the time
But each time I tell myself that I
Well
I can't stand the pain
But when you hold me in your arms
I'll sing it once again
I'll say
Come on
Come on
Come on
Come on
And take it
Take another little piece of my heart now baby
Oh
Oh
Break it
Break another little bit of my heart now darling
Yeah
Oh
Oh
Have a
Have another little piece of my heart now baby
Well you know you got it child
If it makes you feel good
I need you to
Come on
Come on
Come on
Come on
And take it
Take another little piece of my heart now baby
Oh
Oh
Break it
Break another little bit of my heart now darling
Yeah
C'mon now
Oh
Oh
Have a
Have another little piece of my heart now baby
You know you got it
Take it
Take another little piece of my heart now baby
Oh
Oh
Break it
Break another little bit of my heart now darling
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Oh
Oh
Have a
Have another little piece of my heart now baby
Hey
You know you got it child
If it makes you feel good
Broken Lady
Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers
She’s a broken lady
Waiting to be mended
Like a potter would mend
A broken vase
A broken lady
Waiting to be mended
And have what’s left
Of the pieces
Put back in place
Her love was like a fortress
Around a man she would have died for
Taking care
To take care
Of all he needed
But the lady’s fortress
Slowly turned into a prison
And the warning signs he gave
She never heeded
She vowed every mornin’
That what God joined together
No one else in the world
Could pull apart
And then the walls came tumblin’ to the ground
And her world came crashin’ down
Around her heart
Now she’s a broken lady
Waiting to be mended
Like a potter would mend
A broken vase
A broken lady
Waiting to be mended
And have what’s left
Of the pieces
Put back in place
She’s a broken lady
Waiting to be mended
And have what’s left
Of the pieces
Put back in place
