This series will include as many of my all-time
favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak). Now, each one included in each edition will
have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination,
but they will not be numbered. For I
just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others. So, this will not be a countdown, but if you
are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter. Besides, with no countdown, this could go on
forever and ever! Oh, and despite the
fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite
as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make. For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by
nature.

Hey sister

Go sister
He met Marmalade down in old New Orleans
Struttin' her stuff on the street
She said
Hello
Hey Joe
You wanna give it a go
Mmm
Gitchi gitchi
Ya ya
Da da
Gitchi gitchi
Ya ya
Here
Mocca chocolate
Ya ya
Creole Lady Marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi
Ce soir
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi
He savored her cool while she freshened up
That boy drank all that magnolia wine
On the black satin sheets
Where he started to freak
Gitchi gitchi
Ya ya
Da da
Gitchi gitchi
Ya ya
Here
Mocca chocalata
Ya ya
Creole Lady Marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi
Ce soir
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi
Seein’ her skin feelin’ silky smooth
Color of cafe au lait
Made the savage beast inside
Roarin’ ‘til it cried
More
More
More
Now he's at home doing 9 to 5
Livin’ his brave life of lies
But when he turns off to sleep
Old memories keep
More
More
More
Gitchi gitchi
Ya ya
Da da da
Gitchi gitchi
Ya ya
Here
Mocca chocolate
Ya ya
Creole Lady Marmalade
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi
Ce soir
Voulez-vous coucher avec moi
Voulez-vous couchez avec moi
Ce soir

Voulez-vous coucher avec moi

Aretha Franklin
You’d better think
Think
Think about what you're tryin’ to do to me
Yeah think
Think think
Let your mind go
Let yourself be free
Let's go back
Let's go back
Let's go way on back
When I didn't even know you
You couldn't have been too much more than ten
I ain't no psychiatrist
I ain't no doctor with degree
It don't take too much high IQs
Ti see what you're doin’ to me
You’d better think
Think
Think about what you're tryin’ to do to me
Yeah think
Think think
Let your mind go
Let yourself be free
Oh freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Yeah freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Oh freedom
Hey
Think about it
You
Think about it
There ain't nothing you could ask I could answer you
But I won't
I won't
I was gonna change
But I'm not
To keep doin’ things I don't
Oh think
Think
Think about what you're tryin’ to do to me
Yeah think
Think think
Let your mind go
Let yourself be free
People walkin’ around everyday
Playin’ games that they can score
And I ain't gonna be the losin’ my way
Ah be careful you don't lose yours
Yeah think
Think
Think about what you're tryin’ to do to me
Yeah yeah yeah
Think think
Let your mind go
Let yourself be free
You need me
Need me
And I need you
Don't you know
Without each other
There ain't nothin’ people can do
Yeah yeah
Think about it
Think
What you’re tryin’ to do to me
‘Til the fall of night
Think about it right now
Oh freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Yeah freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
Freedom
You
Think about it
There ain't nothin’ you could ask I could answer you
But I won't
I won't
I was gonna change
But I'm not
If you're doin’ things I don't
Hey think
Think
Think about what you're tryin’ to do to me
Yeah think
Think think
Let your mind go
Let yourself be free
You need me
Need me
And I need you
Don't you know
Without each other
There ain't nothin’ people can do
Yeah yeah
Think about me
What you’re tryin’ to do to me
‘Til the fall of night
Think about it baby
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about it
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about it
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about it
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about
What you’re doin’ to me
Think about it
You
Had
Better
Stop
And
Think
Before you think
Think

Awesome music! I love Patti Labelle! If I recall accurately, she was on an episode of The Dog Whisperer...I will check this to be sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ahOL5ohc6s Yes, I just shared the link, I found it. As I recall she was afraid of her dog and Cesar Millan , the Dog Whisperer, came in to help her. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Linda!!! I am amazed at how much younger she looks now in comparison to 20-30 years ago.
DeleteAretha can at least sing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! Yes, she most certainly can.
DeleteI could go through the day without hearing either of these songs and be perfectly happy. Which is not to say that I don't think they are very talented ladies. I just don't care for these songs

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear TWG!!! Yeah, she really lets it rip.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! Yeah, I have found it rather interesting to finally find out what they are actually singing in many of my all-time favorites!
Deleteaaaaah, takes me back to a difference time altogether...
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Shadow!!! Yeah, I can imagine you singing out Aretha's Think a few times.
DeleteIt is interesting reading the lyrics....they make sense when you see them written in black and white.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! Yeah, but there are still a few where I like the lyrics I have been singing over the years better. (LOL?)
