TFT: Commodores

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair while others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Sail On
Commodores
Sail on down the line
‘Bout a half a mile or so
And I don't really wanna know
A where you're goin’
Maybe once or twice
You see but time after time
I tried to hold onto what we got
But now you're goin’

And I don't mind
'Bout the things you're gonna say Lord
I gave all my money
And my time
I know it's a shame
But I'm givin' you back your name
Yeah yeah
Yes
I'll be on my way
I won't be back to stay
I guess I'll move along
I'm lookin’ for a good time

Sail on down the line
Ain't it funny how the time can go
All my friends say they told me so
But it doesn't matter
It was plain to see
That a small town boy like me
Just a wasn't your cup of tea
I was wishful thinkin'

I gave you my heart
And I tried to make you happy
But you gave me nothin' in return
You know it ain't so hard to say
Would you please just go away
Yeah yeah
I've thrown away the blues
I'm tired of bein' used
I wanna everyone to know
I'm lookin’ for a good time
Good time

Whoa
Sail on
Honey
Good times never felt so good
Sail on
Honey
Good times never felt so good
Sail on
Sugar
Good times never felt so good

Sail on

Nightshift
Commodores
Marvin
Marvin
Marvin
Marvin
He was a friend of mine
And he could sing a song
His heart in every line
Marvin
Marvin
Marvin
Marvin
Sang of the joy and pain
He opened up our minds
And I still can hear him say
Oh
Talk to me
So you can see
What's goin' on
Say you will sing your songs
Forevermore
Ever more
Ever more

Gonna be some sweet sounds
Comin' down
On the nightshift
I bet you're singin' proud
Oh
I bet you pull a crowd
Gonna be a long night
it's gonna be all right
On the nightshift
You found another home
I know you're not alone
On the nightshift
You found another home
I know you're not alone
On the nightshift

Jackie
Jackie
Hey
What you're doin' now
It seems like yesterday
When we were workin' out
Jackie
Jackie
Oh
You set the world on fire
You came and gifted us
Your love
It lifted us
Higher and higher
Keep it up
And we'll be there
At your side
Say you will
Sing your songs
Forevermore
Ever more
Ever more

Gonna be some sweet sounds
Comin' down
On the nightshift
I bet you're singin' proud
Oh
I bet you pull a crowd
Gonna be a long night
Gonna be a long night
it's gonna be all right
On the nightshift
You found another home
I know you're not alone
On the nightshift
Gonna be some sweet sounds
Sweet sounds
Comin' down
On the nightshift
Whoa on the shift
I bet you sing it proud
Bet you sing it proud
I bet you pull a crowd
Oh yeah
Gonna be a long night
Gonna be a long night
It’s gonna be all right
On the nightshift
On the nightshift
You found another home
I know you’re not alone
On the nightshift
Gonna be some sweet vibes
That soul comin’ down
On the nightshift
On the nightshift
We all remember you
Your songs are comin’ through

  5. Hey there, happy new year! :) In my youth I didn't understand much of Commodores, I think I needed to grow up to appreciate them. :)

  8. Quite a while Jerry, time flies so fast and I've had a hectic year. But even if I don't comment much, know that I'm here, following. Its always good to come back here and read.

Its quite mild here now, 41 degrees F in the middle of the night and no snow. We had some snow but it rained away. I hope it will get colder soon so we can have some stable weather with lots of snow. :)

  10. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Yeah, Lionel Richie decided to go out on his own, and they pretty much pooped out after that.

  11. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Øyvind!!! It sounds like we might actually be a little colder than you-all right now. For it got down to 15F last night, with a high of around 38F is expected for today. We only have a few patches of snow, though.

I tried to find your profile on Google+ so that I could subscribe, but I failed to find it. I must admit that I was amazed to find at least six other Øyvinds on there. Yeah, it looks like I still haven't gotten out enough. (LOL?)
