TFT: Miranda Lambert

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Kerosene
Miranda Lambert
I'm waitin' on the sun to set
‘Cause yesterday ain’t over yet
 I started smokin’ cigarettes
There's nothing else to do I guess
Dusty roads ain’t made for walkin’
Spinnin’ tires ain’t made for stoppin'
 I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me

I gave it everything I had
And everything I got was bad
Life ain’t hard but it's too long
To live it like some country song
Trade the truth in for a lie
Cheatin’ really ain’t a crime
 I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me

Forget your high society
I'm soakin' it in kerosene
Light 'em up and watch them burn
Teach ‘em what they need to learn
 Ha
Dirty hands ain’t made for shakin'
Ain’t a rule that ain’t worth breakin'
Well I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me

Now I don't hate
The one who left
 You can't hate
Someone who's dead
He's out there holdin’ on to someone
I'm holdin’ up my smokin’ gun
I'll find somewhere to lay my blame
The day she changes her last name
Well I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me
Well I'm givin’ up on love
Hey love's given up on me

The House That Built Me
Miranda Lambert
I know they say you can’t go home again
I just had to come back one last time
Ma'am I know you don't know me from Adam
But these handprints on the front steps are mine
And up those stairs
In that little back bedroom
Is where I did my homework
And I learned to play guitar
And I bet you didn't know
Under that live oak
My favorite dog is buried in the yard

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healin’
Out here it’s like I'm someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just come in I swear I'll leave
Won't take nothin’ but a memory
From the house that built me

Mama cut out pictures of houses for years
From Better Homes and Garden magazines
Plans were drawn, concrete poured
And nail by nail
And board by board
Daddy gave life to mama's dream

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healin’
Out here it’s like I'm someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just come in I swear I'll leave
Won't take nothin’ but a memory
From the house that built me

You leave home
You move on
And you do the best you can
I got lost in this old world
And forgot who I am

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healin’
Out here it’s like I'm someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just walk around I swear I'll leave
Won't take nothin’ but a memory
From the house that built me

  1. She's very pretty - a little too much twang for my ears - but she is very pretty...

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Yes, she is kinda a throw-back to the traditional Nashville sound while most of the other female country stars sound much more mainstream.

  3. I agree she is very pretty. I can listen to that but have to keep the volume down so Wade doesn't hear it. He hates country

  5. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Sandie!!! I can't say that we are huge fans of the lovely and talented Ms. Lambert, but "Kerosene" is most certainly a song I could listen to over and over again.
