TFT: Blake Shelton

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Ol’ Red
Blake Shelton
Well I caught my wife with another man
And it cost me a ninety-nine
On a prison farm in Georgia
 Close to the Florida line
Well I'd been here for two long years
I finally made the warden my friend
And so he sentenced me to a life of ease
 Taking care of ol’ Red

Now ol' Red he's the damnedest dog
That I've ever seen
Got a nose that can smell a two day trail
 He's a four-legged tracking machine
You can consider yourself mighty lucky
To get past the gators and the quicksand beds
But all these years that I've been here
 Ain't nobody got past Red

And the warden sang
 Come on somebody
 Why don't you run
 Ol' Red's itchin'
To have a little fun
 Get my lantern
 Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Well I paid off the guard and I slipped out a letter
To my cousin up in Tennessee
Oh and he brought down a blue tick hound
She was pretty as she could be
Well they penned her up in the swampland
'Bout a mile just south of the gate
And I'd take ol' Red for his evening run
 I'd just drop him off
And wait

And the warden sang
 Come on somebody
 Why don't you run
 Ol' Red's itchin'
To have a little fun
 Get my lantern
 Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now ol' Red got real used to seeing
 His lady every night
And so I kept him away for three or four days
And waited till the time got right
Well I made my run with the evenin' sun
And I smiled when I heard 'em turn Red out
'Cause I was headed north to Tennessee
And ol' Red was headed south

And the warden sang
 Come on somebody
 Why don't you run
 Ol' Red's itchin'
To have a little fun
 Get my lantern
 Get my gun
Red'll have you treed before the mornin' comes

Now there's red haired blue ticks
All in the South
 Love got me in here
And love got me out

God Gave Me You
Blake Shelton
I've been a walkin’ heartache
I've made a mess of me
The person that I've been lately
 Ain't who I wanna be

But you stay here right beside me
And watch as the storm blows through
 And I need you

‘Cause God gave me you for the ups and downs
God gave me you for the days of doubt
And for when I think I lost my way
There are no words here left to say
It's true
 God gave me you
 Gave me you

There's more here than what we're seein’
 A divine conspiracy
 That you, an angel lovely
 Could somehow fall for me
You'll always be love's great martyr
And I'll be the flattered fool
 And I need you

 Yeah

God gave me you for the ups and downs
God gave me you for the days of doubt
And for when I think I lost my way
There are no words here left to say
It's true
 God gave me you

On my own I'm only
Half of what I could be
 I can't do without you
 We are stitched together
 And what love has tethered
 I pray we never undo

‘Cause God gave me you for the ups and downs
God gave me you for the days of doubt
God gave me you for the ups and downs
God gave me you for the days of doubt
And for when I think I lost my way
There are no words here left to say
It's true
 God gave me you
Gave me you
 He gave me you

Come Monday..The Opening Ceremony

If you are a fan of theatrical productions, like the ones that can be seen on [Broadway] and the [West End of London], you probably thoroughly enjoyed the opening ceremony to the 2012 London Olympics.  As for the rest of us, probably not.

In all fairness, I have never paid all that much attention to the opening ceremonies of other Olympics, and it was only in anticipation of the British trying to outdo what the Chinese did in 2008 that I had any interest in seeing this one.  As indicated in the following video, the 2012 opening ceremony didn’t come close.

I would think that it would have been so much more cooler for the opening ceremony to the 2012 London Olympics to have featured reenactments of a different type of games that were held in the British Isles long ago, such as a jousting tournament, complete with sword fights with broad swords and archery contests.  Along with what still goes on at the [Highland Games], and maybe even the [Cooper’s Hill Cheese-Rolling andWake].

Of course, I am not an [Oscar-winning director].  So, what do I know?

Thinking of Christmas Gifts in July

I would think that it would be needless to say, but considering the level of sophistication to many of my readers, it would probably be better to just go ahead and spell it out. Therefore, please be advised that this is one of a number of special edition Sites To See, and all included in it may have something that just might fit quite nicely under your Christmas tree (or stuffed in a stocking) a few very short months from now. As in the regular Sites To See, the link provided below is to the main site, and the images are linked to their particular page, when applicable. The images serve as an example of what they have to offer, and they are not necessarily meant as a recommendation. Although, they do represent something that I liked to at least a certain extent, but since my wife does not like me all that much most of the time (no, I have no idea why, neither), I do not expect to see any of them with my name on it. Hopefully, it is better in your family, and I am quite sure that the artisans here would greatly appreciate your business. Besides, spending your money on things that are made and marketed by people not so unlike yourself strikes a blow against corporate greed and all of that other stuff, which is supposed to be a good thing—right?

Trib Updates

This is a weekly series that will include a brief summary of the latest articles that have been published on The Tribulation Times Herald-Exhorter.  Hopefully, this will encourage you to go check out some truly outstanding articles that have been published by a number of truly outstanding authors.  Moreover, I hope this will also encourage you to want to become a contributing member/author, as well.  The “Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!” site explanation near the top of the side-bar should answer many of your questions.  Yes, this series also included an “SOS! (Spam On Saturdays)”  segment before, but it just wasn’t working for me.  Therefore, that will be replaced by a republishing of one of the Trib articles.

[Not Senseless] contains some thoughts on the Aurora, Colorado movie theater massacre.

[WhiteHeart Wednesday] features a video and the lyrics for Beat of a Different Drum.

When I heard that [Mercy Hospital] in Springfield, Missouri was named the [sixth safest hospital] in the entire United States of America by [Consumer Reports], I actually shuddered.  For it is the very same hospital where my first wife, Sam, couldn’t receive any medication while having Vicki, our first daughter, on account of there being no doctor (let alone her OB/GYN) around to order it.

It is also the very same hospital where it was determined that the only thing wrong with my right knee was arthritis, which was proven to be outrageously untrue.  In fact, after I had it x-rayed at the other major hospital here in Springfield, the radiology tech asked me if I had been in a bad automobile accident on account of how damaged my right knee was.

Oh, but wait—there’s more!  For it is also the very same hospital where my sister-in-law almost died from an infection after having surgery, but in all fairness, it was one of the emergency doctors there that finally recognized that “that” smell about her was rotting flesh.

Okay, Springfield’s Mercy Hospital was still St. John’s in all three of those cases, and I suppose it is possible that drastic changes in the quality of care could have come with the name change.  On the other hand, it only took a score of 70 out of a hundred (I assume) to rank as the sixth safest in the country, with the safest scoring a 72.  Just makes you want to rush out and get a medical procedure done—doesn’t it?

David & Shelly vs. Blake & Miranda

You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma
David Frizzell & Shelly West
There's a full moon over Tulsa
I hope that it's shining on you
The nights are getting colder
In Cherokee County
There's a Blue Northern passing through
I remember green eyes
And a rancher’s daughter
But remember is all that I do
Losing you left a pretty good cowboy
With nothing to hold on to

Sundown came and I drove to town
And drank a drink or two
You're the reason God made Oklahoma
You're the reason God made Oklahoma
And I'm sure missing you
I'm sure missing you

Here the city lights outshine the moon
I was just now thinking of you
Sometimes when the wind blows
You can See the mountains
And all the way to Malibu
Everyone's a star here in L.A. County
You ought to see the things that they do
All the cowboys down on the Sunset Strip
Wish that they could be like you

The Santa Monica Freeway
Sometimes makes a country girl blue
You're the reason God made Oklahoma
You're the reason God made Oklahoma
And I'm sure missing you

I work 10 hours on a John Deere tractor
Just thinking of you all day

I've got a calico cat and a two-room flat
On a street in West L.A.

You're the reason God made Oklahoma
You're the reason God made Oklahoma
And I'm sure missing you
I'm sure missing you

Splatter Spam and CAPTCHA Hate

Evidently, there are some huge fans of [Charlie Daniels], [Sawyer Brown] and [roosters] at Splatter Spam Central.  For up to five spam comments a day on each of those three posts have attempted to slip past the [Blogger spam filter] over a course of 3-4 months now.

Did you catch the significance of attempted to slip past the Blogger spam filter?  For not one did.

Hence, one of the reasons why I am calling these barrages splatter spam.  For I figure that the reason why so many are attempted within a span of just a few seconds is to overwhelm the Blogger spam filter, and I have this image in my head of those spam comments splattering against the wall that has remained intact.

Since the Blogger spam filter has proven to be so trustworthy so far, why are there still so many who have not disabled the [CAPTCHA] option?  If it is simply a case of not knowing how, [this] video tutorial should prove very helpful.

In most cases, however, the reason why the CAPTCHA option is still employed is quite simply just on account of the owner of the blog not caring if they ever receive any legitimate comments or not.  Subsequently, why would I want to help drive traffic their way by including them in a [Sites To See]?

In all fairness, the CAPTCHAs were merely a mild irritation to me before my eyesight went downhill in a hurry, but they are a nightmare now—even when using [page zoom]!  Of course, adding insult to injury is that the comment is still subject to moderation even after jumping through the CAPTCH hoop.

Therefore, I will no longer be including sites with a CAPTCHA form in a Sites To See after the [Thinking of Christmas Gifts in July] series ends this coming Sunday.  Be assured that I would like to put this new policy into effect immediately, but that would be unfair to the remaining ones.

Kerosene
Miranda Lambert
I'm waitin' on the sun to set
‘Cause yesterday ain’t over yet
 I started smokin’ cigarettes
There's nothing else to do I guess
Dusty roads ain’t made for walkin’
Spinnin’ tires ain’t made for stoppin'
 I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me

I gave it everything I had
And everything I got was bad
Life ain’t hard but it's too long
To live it like some country song
Trade the truth in for a lie
Cheatin’ really ain’t a crime
 I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me

Forget your high society
I'm soakin' it in kerosene
Light 'em up and watch them burn
Teach ‘em what they need to learn
 Ha
Dirty hands ain’t made for shakin'
Ain’t a rule that ain’t worth breakin'
Well I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me

Now I don't hate
The one who left
 You can't hate
Someone who's dead
He's out there holdin’ on to someone
I'm holdin’ up my smokin’ gun
I'll find somewhere to lay my blame
The day she changes her last name
Well I'm givin’ up on love
‘Cause love's given up on me
Well I'm givin’ up on love
Hey love's given up on me

The House That Built Me
Miranda Lambert
I know they say you can’t go home again
I just had to come back one last time
Ma'am I know you don't know me from Adam
But these handprints on the front steps are mine
And up those stairs
In that little back bedroom
Is where I did my homework
And I learned to play guitar
And I bet you didn't know
Under that live oak
My favorite dog is buried in the yard

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healin’
Out here it’s like I'm someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just come in I swear I'll leave
Won't take nothin’ but a memory
From the house that built me

Mama cut out pictures of houses for years
From Better Homes and Garden magazines
Plans were drawn, concrete poured
And nail by nail
And board by board
Daddy gave life to mama's dream

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healin’
Out here it’s like I'm someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just come in I swear I'll leave
Won't take nothin’ but a memory
From the house that built me

You leave home
You move on
And you do the best you can
I got lost in this old world
And forgot who I am

I thought if I could touch this place or feel it
This brokenness inside me might start healin’
Out here it’s like I'm someone else
I thought that maybe I could find myself
if I could just walk around I swear I'll leave
Won't take nothin’ but a memory
From the house that built me
