Tommy James vs. Tiffany

I Think We’re Alone Now
Tommy James & The Shondells
Children behave
That’s what they say
When we’re together
And watch how you play
They don’t understand
And so we’re
Runnin’ just as fast as we can
Holdin’ onto one another’s hands
Tryin’ to get away
Into the night
And then you put your arms around me
As we tumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we’re alone now
There doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

Look at the way
We gotta hide what we’re doin’
‘Cause what would they say
If they ever knew
And so we’re
Runnin’ just as fast as we can
Holdin’ onto one another’s hands
Tryin’ to get away
Into the night
And then you put your arms around me
As we tumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we’re alone now
There doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

I think we’re alone now
There doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

I think we’re alone now
There doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

I Think We’re Alone Now
Tiffany
Let me hear your heartbeat
Let me feel your heartbeat
Let me touch you heartbeat
I can change your heartbeat

Children behave
That’s what they say
When we’re together
And watch how you play
They don’t understand
And so we're
Runnin’ just as fast as we can
Holdin’ onto one another’s hand
Tryin’ to get away
Into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we stumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we’re alone now
It doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

Look at the way
We gotta hide what we’re doin’
‘Cause what would they say
If they ever knew
And so we're
Runnin’ just as fast as we can
Holdin’ onto one another’s hand
Tryin’ to get away
Into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we stumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we’re alone now
It doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

I think we’re alone now
It doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only only sound

Runnin’ just as fast as we can
Holdin’ onto one another’s hand
Tryin’ to get away
Into the night
And then you put your arms around me
And we stumble to the ground
And then you say

I think we’re alone now
It doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

I think we’re alone now
It doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only only sound

I think we’re alone now
It doesn’t seem to be
Anyone around
I think we’re alone now
The beating of our hearts
Is the only sound

Look at the way
We gotta hide what we’re doin’
Don’t care what they say
We’re making our own sound now

Can’t you hear my heartbeat
Can’t you hear my heartbeat
Can’t you hear my heartbeat
Can’t you hear my heartbeat
Let me hear your heartbeat
Let me hear your heartbeat
Let me touch your heartbeat
I can change your heartbeat

  1. Tiffany did a good job with this song but I have to say Tommy James wins this one.

  2. Geesh...if you research hard enough, you'll find that almost everything is a remake. I'm with Ann. I like Tommy James better too :)

  3. The original was one of my favorites. I listened to the radio for 2 years in college. Haven't been back much since.

  4. Tommy James is simply the best. But I agree with Ann, Tiffany did a good job with this song. But nothing can beat Tommy's crickets and voice and the arrangements! Dale

  6. I have to say they're both good but I prefer the Tiffany version because it sends a different vibe coming from a young woman. Just my opinion.

  7. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! I fully agree with your assessment. His "Draggin' The Line" is one of my all-time favorites.

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Roschelle!!! Yeah, it has happened a lot more than one would think, but in the words of Simon Cowell, she made it her own--unlike some remakes of other songs.

  9. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Sharkbytes!!! Yeah, I can see where a young college girl would love to listen to a lot of Tommy James & The Shondells back then, and that music in general would not be same afterward.

  13. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Dick!!! Yes, you certainly have a great point, and I was very impressed with her version when it first came out--especially the way she expressed, "Into the night." Although, my memory has her singing it a little raspier/edgier than what I heard on this video.

  14. You have brought back memories of school discos with the Tiffany tune unfortunately I must admit I don't know who Tommy James is, so its the Tiffster for me.

  15. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ryan!!! I would highly recommend you checking out some of Tommy James & The Shondells hits. For they were HUGE in the 60's, and I am fairly sure that you are very familiar with Joan Jett's remake of his "Crimson & Clover," which is just one of a number of truly awesome songs that they recorded. As I told the lovely and talented Ms. Ann, their "Draggin' The Line" is one of my all-time favorites, and "Chrystal Blue Persuasion" is another tune that I think you might appreciate. By the way, if you go to find "Draggin' The Line," try to listen to a copy off of the album so that you can get the full echo effect.
