Come Monday...Ed Martin For Congress

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about, websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time. Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.” This is subject to change, however. In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while. For rants promote change, and change can be good—right? Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

The image above is of [Ed Martin] and his family. Just in case you have never heard of him before, he is running for the [Missouri 3rd Congressional Seat], and I first heard of him while catching part of [Hardball With Chris Matthews] on [MSNBC] one very boring afternoon.

No, there was nothing else on. For there is only so much [Judge Judy] that I can take, and the rest of the channels were not cooperating with their programming selections for my viewing pleasure. This was not a problem before my son showed up and disrupted my daily routine, but I keep being told that he is worth it. Yeah, I suppose I need to get a hold of a few network programming executives, and advise them of the changes that need to be made.

Anyway, I picked right up when I heard what Mr. Matthews had of what Mr. Martin said. Now, I could not secure an embeddable thingamajig from the show, but I think I did find the original sound-bite that was aired on Hardball, which is below.

No, I am not going to say a thing about it beforehand, but I hope to hear from you afterward. Needlessly to say (I hope), I am wondering if you would vote for him if you lived in that district. I am also wondering what you think about what he said, even if you don’t live anywhere near south of St. Louis, MO.

If you would like some more information about Mr. Martin, there appears to be an abundance of it [here], and some more can be found [here]. Please keep your comments at least somewhat civil if what you hear does not agree with what you have had to eat lately.

  1. Cobblers!
What he is saying is "I'm using the Jesus effect to get elected!"
Obama cannot stop people finding Jesus, and I doubt he wants to. Scaremongering at its worst. Typical US politician. Obama = ungodly. Obama = Socialism = ungodly.
    All lies!

The 'God' effect does not affect UK politics, indeed it is played down here. How it is abused in the US!
Vote for him? I found it embarrassing to have to vote for any of our lot in the last election. There are no politicians who follow Jesus, and if they do few get to the top.

I'm in danger of ranting, so I will cease.

  2. So now President Obama and his administration are taking away our ability to choose Christ as our Savior, unbelievable.

    He sounds like a lunatic.

  4. In my opinion anything that comes out of a politicians mouth when he is running for an election has very little to do with what he believes or what he intends to do. It has more to do with what he thinks you want to hear.

  6. I agree blatent scare mongering but will American voters realize this?
As Billy Connolly said 'the mere fact that someone wants to become a politician should automatically stop them from becoming one'.

  7. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! Please forgive me for taking so long to reply, but I have been waiting to see if anyone would seek to defend his position before chiming in that I fully agree with what you have said. What makes this especially said is that far too many have been led to believe that it is possible for a government in this world to keep someone from securing their place in our Heavenly Father's Kingdom of Heaven. After all, has it not been widely taught that the church was established to finish the work of seeking and saving the lost and confused that Christ Jesus began while He walked amongst us in the flesh, and is it not at least possible that government interference could prevent that?

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Roschelle!!! Yes, aside from the fact that Mr. Martin would believe that such a thing is even possible, President Obama has not shown the least bit of inclination towards preventing anyone from worshiping as they see fit that I have seen.

  9. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Phillip!!! Do you mean to say that this has stopped?

  10. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Be assured that I hear what you are saying, and I really hate it that far too many like that keep getting elected.

As in regards to Judge Judy, I must admit that she has her moments, and I suppose it has been made quite obvious that CBS agrees with that wholeheartedly. For while we have been shaking our heads at professional athletes signing contracts worth around $20 million a year, she just signed a new contract that is reportedly worth around $45 million a year.

  11. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ryan!!! It sounds like Billy Connolly has his moments, as well. By the way, I loved him as Little John in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood, and I will be skipping Russell Crowe's.

  12. I think you may have got Billy Connelly mixed up with another actor, I don't think he was in Costners Robin Hood.

  13. Yep, you are quite correct, my dear Ryan. For I just looked it up, and it was Nick Brimble who played Little John in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood. I'm still not watching Russell Crowe's version, however. Thanks for stopping by again!!!
