Come Monday...Stupid Americans

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of (or commentary about) websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time.  Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.”  This is subject to change, however.  In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while.  For rants promote change, and change can be good—right?  Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

First of all, please let me make it as abundantly clear as possible that this is not meant as an attack upon our military—certainly not the men and women who actually served in Iraq and Afghanistan.  For they did (which many are still doing) what they were ordered to do, and for the most part, they did it honorably.

No, this is meant as an attack upon our stupid leaders in Washington, D.C., and with plans being made to send advisers back into Iraq, I am trying real hard to be diplomatic in my criticism.  You see, I am not calling our leaders stupid in the way you probably think.  I am calling them stupid in a spiritual-sense, which is really not all that different from calling them stupid in a natural-sense since all intelligence is actually in the hands of our Heavenly Father, but that is a discussion for another day, I suppose.

Okay, for the benefit of those who do not get it, we (as in all of mankind) are not nearly as free to do as we will in this world as what most would like to believe.  For how we see and react to things is actually completely in our Heavenly Father’s hands—even if He just allows us to so as we will.

The thing is, however, that our Heavenly Father will often give us a clue (even to those who do not want to believe that He even exists) when we are about to make an error in judgment, with it all depending upon what He wants to accomplish in a given situation determining whether He makes it abundantly clear to someone that they are about to really mess up or keeps them in the dark until the damage is done.  With it being well-documented (even in a natural-sense) that the politics of Iraq has been based upon religious ideologies for centuries, how much more of a clue does He have to give President Obama that mere military might is not going to solve the problem?  Hence, we have a really [stupid] president in office.

In all fairness, [W.] was not any sharper.  For he went in there and kicked over a fire anthill, which destabilized the entire region.

No, I am not suggesting that [Hussein] should have been left alone.  Neither am I suggesting that the current threat from [ISIS] should be ignored.  Nonetheless, there is a much better way to go than the road we have taken and are about to travel back down again.

ISIS is [Sunni].  Therefore, the Saudis, who are mostly Sunni and have the most to lose by an all-out war between ISIS and [Shias] backed by Iran, should be asked to temporarily take over management of Iraq after we take some fire out of the ISIS [jihad], which has been stoked by the current Shia president of Iraq’s gross mistreatment of Sunnis.  For I believe that the Saudis would deal fairly with both the Sunnis and Shias in Iraq, which should settle things down quite nicely.  If the Saudis refuse to get directly involved, we should leave Iraq be.

No, that would not be good news for the European economies much more dependent upon middle-eastern oil supplies than we are these days.  So, let them take the lead, with us playing a strictly supporting role.  For that is what good allies should do—right?

Alas, Iraq looks like a no-win situation from our own ground-based points of view, but it is really not.  Ah, but who is so blind as the one who does not want to see?

  1. I never did think our current president was too brilliant and have always thought his decisions were very questionable

  2. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Before the election, I was told that he would not be as good as his supporters hoped, nor as bad as his detractors feared, and I think that was being kind.

  3. The Saudi's and Qatar back the rebels in Syrian out of which have grown ISIS. The only thing they can do is stop supplying them, but they will not do that. If ISIS have oil some will buy and keep them going.

UK & US leaders have no idea what to do and it remains Blair & Bush at fault for this mess. Impeach both I say!

  4. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! It would be kinda hard to impeach either Bush or Blair now--wouldn't it?

  5. I hate to disagree with you but a military solution is the only one that will work in the Middle East. They are not ready for Democracy. The former Yugoslavia would have disintegrated into ethnic chaos decades earlier had it not been for the iron fist of Tito. I don't believe in dictators but sometimes a strong arm is needed to keep the peace. But I don't think we should spend one more dime or one more life in Iraq or Afghanistan.

  6. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! Yes, you are right, and I misspoke. For mere military might would solve the problem if we were willing to kill all of "them" on both sides of the conflict, and that would have to involve killing all of "them" everywhere. For the trouble with being on a jihad from Allah is that each person becomes their own army and are obligated to do as much damage to the infidels (even if they are Muslim) as possible--regardless of having support from others or not. In other words, the jihadists really do become like fire ants, and completely destroying their anthill will not stop the ones already scattered about.

Oh, and during our quest to kill all of the fire ants, they would have to be distinguished from the regular ants, which would be extremely difficult for non-ants (like us) to do since what distinguishes a fire ant from a regular ant in this case is a way of thinking--not outward appearances. Of course, even that would not be all that much of a problem if we were willing to kill all of the ants, everywhere. We would have to be willing to kill a lot of non-ants along the way, though.

The Saudis can tell who is a fire ant and who is not much better than us, and they could keep this latest threat from getting too far out of hand. Let us hope that they (or someone like them) will want to become that iron fist over the entire region until enough are more willing to play nice with one another.

  7. There are no easy answers, because no one really understands or listens to the questions. Let them work out their own problems, I say. It's easy to lay blame on Bush and Blair, and whomever else.

They want change; they don't want help...but if and when the latter changes we know who they go begging to for it, won't we? The West is damned if they do; and damned if they don't. We, the West are in a no-win situation. I never ceased to be amazed how those who are causing all the mayhem are so ready to curse the West, while at the same time, have their hands out begging...like Oliver Twist!

    They certainly are twisted!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! If there was no danger of it spreading past their borders, we would do well to leave all of that region alone to do as they will, but the fire ants have spread far and wide. In fact, you have some not too awfully far to the north of you, and they will have to step up their fight or risk losing favor. Just remember, death in battle against infidels gets them an express ticket to paradise in their minds. So, devout radicals do not believe they have anything to lose. Therefore, it is the battle for their hearts and minds that must be fought and won, and this is something that I do not think we can accomplish (naturally-speaking, of course).

    2. I know who our nearby northern neighbours are, Jerry...and it thrills me not. We've already let too many into this country, too...and their have their clusters dotted throughout our country. It's kind of like "it's too late to shut the gate after the horse has bolted".

I have no time for these people...no time, at all. And for them to say it's "a religion of peace" is the biggest joke of all. And, who wants 20 virgins? I sure as hell don't!! I wouldn't want one!

    3. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Lee!!! Alas, the danger is always there when people become too fanatical about their religious beliefs, with the devil most definitely being in the details. Be assured that much would be drastically different if this world was meant to last and our lives in it meant as much as we naturally want to believe they do. If we would just closely listen to our hearts, we would hear just how eager our Heavenly Father is to tell us all about it.

  8. What a mess. And we are stuck in it, unfortunately because to sit by and do nothing gives these animals a state in which to work their madness. What to do? What is the answer? I don't know. It's just very scary to see how insane these people are.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lin!!! Conventional wisdom would dictate that it is good to let them build huge anthills so that a great many can be destroyed at a time, but they build their anthills among the innocent, who should be allowed to live in peace. Yeah, it is indeed a mess.
