ATF: Foreign Affairs

This weekly series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

You Shook Me All Night Long
AC/DC
She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman
That I’d ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Tellin’ me no lies
Knockin' me out
With those American thighs
Takin’ more than her share
Had me fightin’ for air
She told me to come
But I was already there

'Cause the walls start shakin’
The earth was quakin’
My mind was achin’
And we were makin’ it
And you
Shook me all night long
Yeah you
Shook me all night long

Workin’ double time
On her seduction line
She was one of a kind
She's just mine all mine
Wanted no applause
Just another course
Made a meal out of me
And come back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I'm back in the ring
To take another swing

That the walls were shakin’
The earth was quakin’
My mind was achin’
And we were makin’ it
And you
Shook me all night long,
Yeah you
Shook me all night long
Knocked me out
And then you
Shook me all night long
Had me shakin'
Then you
Shook me all night long
Yeah ya shook me
Well ya took me

You really took me
And you
Shook me all night long
Oh you
Shook me all night long
Yeah yeah you
Shook me all night long
Ya really got me
And you
Shook me all night long
Yeah ya shook me
Yeah ya shook me
All night long

American Woman
The Guess Who
American woman
Gonna mess your mind
American woman
She gonna mess your mind
American woman
Gonna mess your mind
American woman
Gonna mess your mind
Say A
Say M
Say E
Say R
Say I
And C
Say A
N
American woman
Gonna mess your mind
American woman
Gonna mess your mind
American woman
Gonna mess your mind

American woman
Stay away from me
American woman
Mama let me be
Don't come hangin' around my door
I don't wanna see your face no more
I got more important things to do
Than spend my time growin' old with you
Now woman
I said stay away
American woman
Listen to what I say

American woman
Get away from me
American woman
Mama let me be
Don't come knockin' around my door
Don't wanna see your shadow no more
Colored lights can hypnotize
Sparkle someone else's eyes
Now woman
I said get away
American woman
Listen to what I say

American woman
I said get away
American woman
Listen to what I say
Don't come hangin' around my door
Don't wanna see your face no more
I don't need your war machines
I don't need your ghetto scenes
Colored lights can hypnotize
Sparkle someone else's eyes
Now woman
Get away from me
American woman
Mama let me be

Go
Gotta get away
Gotta get away
Now
Go
Go
Go
I'm gonna leave you woman
Gonna leave you woman
Bye-bye
Bye-bye
Bye-bye
Bye-bye
You're no good for me
I'm no good for you
Gonna look you right in the eye
Tell you what I'm gonna do
You know I'm gonna
Leave
You know I'm gonna
Go
You know I'm gonna
Leave
You know I'm gonna
Go
Woman
I'm gonna leave
You woman
Goodbye American woman
Goodbye…

  1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! I am leaning more to the Canadian side, but it ain't much of a lean. In any event, I could listen to either one non-stop for hours without complaint, which is pretty much what is required for a song to make this list.

  2. Was never a huge fan of either one of these but I will admit that AC/DC has got some really good songs and they require cranking the volume way up :)

  3. I haven't heard American Woman in a few years. I really need to make time in my life for more music.

  4. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! I found it quite helpful to not try to listen to the actual lyrics when an AC/DC song cranks up, which is not all that hard to do if some idiot does not have them in print before you. Sigh.

  5. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! Yes you should! Hey, I heard back from Lifesavers about that classic ad, and the little lady said that since the company has had so many different owners over the years, there is no telling where information on it may be found. So, I will keep looking.
