Come Monday...Catapulting Kitties

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about,  websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time.  Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.”  This is subject to change, however.  In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while.  For rants promote change, and change can be good—right?  Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

Be assured that I am well aware of the fact that the expression is actually juggling cats, but when you catapult kitties, they go farther, which makes them harder to catch.  No, one must never let a kitty hit the ground.

Yes, that does have something to do with something.  For it is meant to give you a better idea of just how much has been going on in my head lately.

Okay, maybe “lately” is too broad of a term.  For it can apply to a few hours as much as to several weeks, and what I want you to understand is that my current dilemma started in earnest at the first of last November.

Yes, that is important.  For the longer I have been struggling, the more sympathy I should receive from you.

In a nutshell, my current dilemma has to do with having much to do with very little energy to do it.  For I have several personal projects to complete and articles to publish, which should have been all done and over with long before now.

It all started with receiving a bill from Mediacom, who is our cable television/internet provider, for an amount in excess of $150.00, which was around $50.00 higher than the month before.  One of those unpublished articles is an epic piece containing all of the sordid details that were discovered about that when I put on my very stylish investigative journalist hat.  It’s [houndstooth], of course.

The Mediacom “stuff” greatly encouraged me to seek an alternative means of keeping my wife visually entertained, which is more important than any of you can even start to imagine.  Suffice to say, it would get pretty ugly around here if [Most Shocking] wasn’t readily available for her viewing pleasure.

One thing led to another, and a few more articles to be published were added to the list.  Does anyone know where I might find a matching raincoat to go with my investigative journalist hat?

It was during my searching high and low for an alternative means of keeping my wife visually entertained that I found several of our all-time favorite television series available for free online viewing, such as HBO’s The Wire, The Sopranos and Band of Brothers.  The Pretender, Andromeda, Babylon 5, Farscape, all of the Star Trek series, along with all of Stargate series were also there for the watching.  Okay, the last ones were mostly for me, but I also found Touched By An Angel, Highway To Heaven, Keeping Up Appearances and The Golden Girls for my mother-in-law.

Hence, where most of my very limited time has gone.  For it takes a while to make these shows available for our viewing pleasure since we do not have another computer hooked up to our television yet, which will be explained as soon as the article about it is published.

Oh, and on top of all that is another book that I have been given to publish.  The really rough handwritten first draft is finally finished, but what is and what will be is still a ways off.

Part of the problem with the new book has to do with also trying to become a better writer along the way, which is being accomplished with the help of the [AP Stylebook].  Despite how bad it is making me feel, I highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about getting their written point across in a fairly discernible manner, which isn’t as much about misery loving company as SOME people would undoubtedly think.

Yes, conventional wisdom says to focus on one thing until it is completed and then move on to the next, but that is not the way it works in my head.  Would matching shoes complete the ensamble, or would it be taking my signature investigative journalist outfit too far?

  1. apparently I don't follow conventional wisdom because I always have more than one thing going on at a time.
