David Bowie vs. The Wallflowers

Heroes
David Bowie
I
I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins
Like dolphins can swim
Though nothing
Nothing will keep us together
We can beat them
Forever and ever
Oh we can be heroes
Just for one day

I
I will be king
And you
You will be queen
Though nothing
Will drive them away
We can be heroes
Just for one day
We can be us
Just for one day

I
I can remember
I remember
Standing
By the wall
By the wall
And the guns
Shot above our heads
Over our heads
And we kissed,
As though nothing could fall
Nothing could fall
And the shame
Was on the other side
Oh we can beat them
Forever and ever
Then we could be heroes,
Just for one day

We can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes
Just for one day
We can be heroes

Heroes
The Wallflowers
I
I wish you could swim
Like dolphins
Like dolphins can swim
Though nothing
Nothing will keep us together
We can beat them
Forever and ever
We can be heroes
Just for one day

I
Well I will be king
You
You will be queen
Though nothing
Well nothing drive them away
We can be heroes
Just for one day
We can be us
Just for one day

I
I remember
Standing
By the wall
The guns
Shot above our heads
And we kissed,
As though nothing could fall
And the shame
Was on the other side
Oh we can beat them
Forever and ever
Oh we can be heroes,
Just for one day

We can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes
Just for one day

  1. Never been a David Bowie fan - so no. Until Tuesday I had never heard the Wallflowers perform - read about them, never listened to them but you know I just might download a few of their tunes. I like the music a lot, the lyrics - meh.

And Jakob Dylan is a total yum-yum!

  2. I don't normally choose the remake but I'm going to make an exception this time. The Wallflowers win this one

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! I have liked a few of Bowie's tunes, but I think Jakob and his bunch wins this one. (I suppose you are going to blame the slobbers on your keyboard on one of your cats--huh?)

  6. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Sandie!!! Yeah, he is most definitely an acquired taste while I find most of The Wallflowers offerings much more palatable.

  9. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Susan!!! Yeah, his rendition sounds more like shouting than singing to me.
