TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother
The Hollies
The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to
Who knows where
Who knows when
But I’m strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain’t heavy
He’s my brother

So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he
To bear
We’ll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain’t heavy
He’s my brother

If I’m laden
At all
I’m laden
With sadness
That everyone’s heart
Isn’t filled with the gladness
Of love
For one another

It’s a long long road
From which there is no return
While we’re on the way
To there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn’t weigh me down at all
He ain’t heavy
He’s my brother

He’s my brother

He ain’t heavy

He’s my brother

He ain’t heavy

The Air That I Breathe
The Hollies
If I could make a wish
I think I’d pass
Can’t think of anything I need
No cigarettes
No sleep
No light
No sound
Nothing to eat
No books to read
Making love with you
Has left me peaceful
Warm and tired
What more could I ask
There’s nothing left to be desired

Peace came upon me
And it leaves
Me weak
So sleep
Silent angel
Go to sleep

Sometimes
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe

Peace came upon me
And it leaves
Me weak
So sleep
Silent angel
Go to sleep

Sometimes
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe

Sometimes
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you

  1. A better choice, but two slushy choices I see. Feeling romantic perhaps?

  2. Maybeeeeee? Perhaps you would prefer Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress? If so, it is scheduled for this coming Thursday. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!!

  3. I love the Hollies!! What a fun time I had. "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" is one of the most covered songs. I love that song as well as the others. Too bad that Graham Nash left before these hits. I love "Long Cool Woman in A Black Dress." Thanks for sharing these.

  4. Whoa, I don't think I remember Graham Nash being a member of The Hollies. Long Cool Woman is actually my favorite song by them, but these two worked better for this series. I am so very glad you enjoyed this, and thanks for stopping by again, my dear Coleen!!!

  5. Yes, Graham Nash was an original member until 1968 when he left to join Stephen Still and David Crosby. (CSN is number 2 of my favorite bands. I lost count of the number times I've seen them) Anyway he was in Bus Stop; Stop, Stop, Stop; On a Carousel (I notice his voice the most in the one); and Carrie-Anne.

  6. Well, I am ashamed to call myself a fan of rock music in comparison to you. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Coleen!!!

  7. That takes me back a bit. Haven't heard either one of those in ages.

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! I hope you really enjoyed this jaunt down memory lane. (You know, you could dedicate that first song to Duke: He ain't heavy, he's my puppy. Yeah, I think it's catchy.)
