This series will include as many of my all-time
favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak). Now, each one included in each edition will
have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination,
but they will not be numbered. For I
just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others. So, this will not be a countdown, but if you
are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter. Besides, with no countdown, this could go on
forever and ever! Oh, and despite the
fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite
as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make. For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by
nature.

Hello/Goodbye
The Beatles
You say yes
I say no
You say stop
And I say
Go go go
Oh no
You say goodbye
And I say hello
Hello
Hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
Hello
Hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
I say high
You say low
You say why
And I say
I don't know
Oh, no
You say goodbye
And I say hello
Hello
Goodbye
Hello
Goodbye
Hello

I don't know why you say goodbye

I say no
But I may mean no
You say stop
I can stay
And I say
Go go go
‘Til it's time to go
Oh oh
Oh no
You say goodbye
And I say hello
Hello
Hello
I don't know why you say goodbye

That’s All
Genesis
Just as I thought it was going alright
I find out I'm wrong
When I thought I was right
It's always the same
It's just a shame
That's all
I could say day
You'd say night
Tell me it's black
When I know that it's white
It's always the same
It's just a shame
That's all
I could leave
But I won't go
Though my heart might
Tell me so
I can't feel a thing
From my head down to my toes
So why does it always seem to be
Me looking at you
You looking at me
It's always the same
It's just a shame
That's all
Turning me on
Turning me off
Making me feel like I want too much
Living with you's
Just putting me through it
All of the time
Running around
Staying out all night
Taking it all
Instead of taking one bite
Living with you's
Just putting me through it
All of the time
I could leave
But I won't go
It'd be easier
I know
I can't feel a thing
From my head down to my toes
So why does it always seem to be
Me looking at you
You looking at me
It's always the same
Tt's just a shame
That's all
Truth is I love you
More that I wanted to
There's no point in trying
To pretend
There's been no one who
Makes me feel like you do
Say we'll be together
‘Til the end
I could leave
But I won't go
It'd be easier
I know
I can't feel a thing
From my head down to my toes
So why does it always seem to be
Me looking at you
You looking at me
It's always the same
It's just a shame
That's all
But I love you
More that I wanted to
There's no point in trying
To pretend
There's been no one who
Makes me feel like you do
Say we'll be together
‘Til the end
But just as I thought it was going alright
I find out I'm wrong
When I thought I was right
It's always the same
It's just a shame
That's all
I could say day
You'd say night
Tell me it's black
When I know that it's white
It's always the same
It's just a shame
That's all
That's all

Definitely a McCartney song.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! Yes, it sure appears to be so.
DeleteI'll take you up on your invasion for suggestions. The Beachboys Sloop on John B was an ear worm for years and years. I wonder if it still is. I always think of my grandad with great affection whenever I hear it, which obviously doesn't happen so often these days. Sad news about David Bowie. His Lazarus, just released, is quite something.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Gwil!!! I have never been much of a Beach Boys fan, but one of their songs is scheduled to be included in this series on the 28th of this month. From what I have heard of Bowie's Lazarus, it should prove to be another big hit.
DeleteVery enjoyable, thank you for this treat
ReplyDeleteBut just as I thought it was going alright I find out I'm wrong When I thought I was right.
ReplyDeleteYep that pretty much sums things up nicely :)
Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! My relationship with that song is rather bittersweet. For it was in heavy rotation on the radio around the time Sam ran me off. When I had enough beer and Jack Daniels in me, the lyrics would make me laugh. When I became too sober, they would make me cry.
DeleteGreat tune and lyrics indeed. Warm greetings!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Blogoratti!!! I am really glad you enjoyed this.
DeleteGenesis! A classic. Those drums.... Yeeeeee *grin*
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Shadow!!! Yeah, Phil really knew how to beat on his tom-tom.
