ATF: Ups and Downs

This series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

High Enough
Damn Yankees
I don't wanna hear about it
Anymore
It's a shame I've got to live without you
Anymore
There's a fire in my heart
A poundin’ in my brain
It's drivin’ me crazy
We don't need to talk about it
Anymore
Yesterday's just a memory
Can we close the door
I just made one mistake
I didn't know what to say
When you called me baby

Don't say goodnight
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh whoa
All the way

Can you take me high enough
To fly me over
Fly me over
Yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Yesterday’s just a memory
Yesterday’s just a memory

I don’t wanna live without you
Anymore
Can’t you see I’m in misery
And you know for sure
I would love and die for you
And I’d know just what to do
When you call me baby

Don't say goodbye
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh whoa
All the way

Can you take me high enough
Can you fly me over
Fly me over
Yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Yesterday’s just a memory away

I was runnin’ for the door
The next thing I remember
I was runnin’ back for more
Yeah
Yeah yeah yeah

Don't say goodbye
Say you're gonna stay forever
Oh whoa
All the way
All the way
All the way
Yeah
Yeah

Can you take me high enough
Can you fly me over
Fly me over
Yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
Can you take me high enough
Won’t you fly me over
Won’t you fly me over
Yesterday
Can you take me high enough
It's never over
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa

Free Fallin’
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
She's a good girl
Loves her mama
Loves Jesus
And America too
She's a good girl
Is crazy 'bout Elvis
Loves horses
And her boyfriend too

It's a long day
Livin’ in Reseda
There's a freeway
Runnin’ through the yard
Now I'm a bad boy
‘Cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy
For breakin’ her heart

Now I'm free
Free fallin’
Yeah I'm free
Free fallin’

All the vampires
Walkin’ through the valley
Move west down
Ventura Boulevard
And all the bad boys
Are standin’ in the shadows
And the good girls
Are home with broken hearts

Now I’m free
Free fallin’
Yeah I'm free
Free fallin’

Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free Fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m

I wanna glide down
Over Mulholland
I wanna write her
Name in the sky
Gonna free fall
Out into nothin’
Gonna leave this
World for a while

Now I’m free
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free Fallin’
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Yeah I’m free
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m

Free Fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Now I’m free
Free fallin’
Oh
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m free
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin
Oh
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Free fallin’
Now I’m
Free fallin’
Now I’m

  1. I couldn't play the first video. It said it couldn't play in safety mode, whatever that means. I could play the second though and since I like that one way better it worked for me :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Could Wade or Gibbs have restricted your access to YouTube? In any event, I have found that the smell of frying bacon can open many a closed door.

  2. Good choices... but I didn't realize until reading the lyrics how repetitious "Free Fallin' " is. Ha.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Silver Fox!!! Yeah, I've discovered the same thing with many of my all-time favorites, but if you are like me, it doesn't matter one little bit.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! Maybe you were too firmly entrenched in your "grown-up phase" to appreciate his music by the time he hit the charts?

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Shadow!!! Damn Yankees was a so-called super group comprised of the lead singer/rhythm guitarist from Styx, the leader singer/bassist from Night Ranger, the drummer from Night Ranger and Ted Nugent. I don't think they are still together.

  7. I love the older TP songs--you know, the ones that you can barely understand him. Fooey on the newer, more "corporate" albums. REM is like that too--love the old, original music--don't care for the later stuff. Why do bands ruin their style? :(

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lin!!! Alas, methinks I am not sophisticated enough to realize the difference.
