ATF: Heavy Metal Thunder

This weekly series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Born to be Wild
Steppenwolf
Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin’ for adventure
In whatever comes our way
Yeah darlin'
Gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And
Explode into space
I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder
Racin’ with the wind
And the feelin’ that I'm under
Yeah darlin'
Gonna make it happen
Take the world in a lovin’ embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And
Explode into space

Like a true nature’s child
We were born
Born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be wild
Born to be wild

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin’ for adventure
In whatever comes our way
Yeah darlin'
Gonna make it happen
Take the world in a lovin’ embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And
Explode into space

Like a true nature’s child
We were born
Born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die
Born to be wild
Born to be wild

Thunder

Thunder

Thunder

I was caught
In the middle of a railroad track
Thunder
I looked around
And I knew there was no turning back
Thunder
My mind raced
And I thought
What could I do
Thunder
And I knew
There was no help
No help from you
Thunder

Sound of the drums
Beatin' in my heart
The thunder of guns
Yeah
Tore me apart
You've been
Thunderstruck

Went down the highway
Broke the limit
We hit the town
Went through to Texas
Yeah Texas
And we had some fun
We met some girls
Some dancers who gave a good time
Broke all the rules
Played all the fools
Yeah
Yeah
They
They
They blew our minds
I was shakin' at the knees
Could I come again please
Yeah the ladies were too kind

You've been
You’ve been
Thunderstruck
Thunderstruck
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Thunderstruck
Oooh
Thunderstruck

Yeah

Well I shakin’ at the knees
Could I come again please

Thunderstruck
Thunderstruck
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Thunderstruck
Thunderstruck
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Said yeah
It's alright
We’re
Doin' fine
Yeah
It's alright
We’re
Doin' fine
So fine
Thunderstruck
Yeah
Yeah

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Marja!!! My little brother has always been a much bigger fan of AC/DC that I am, but the three I have included in this series so far I could listen to over and over again non-stop. Alas, my hardcore biker days ended with a really bad bicycle wreck when I was 12 (I think).

  2. looking back on my life I really don't believe that I was born to be wild but that's not to say that I didn't occasionally make a feeble attempt at it :)

  3. Steppenwolf was a favorite group of mine until my father listened to some of the lyrics. :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Roan!!! The interesting thing is that I was raised in a very conservative home, but when it came to music, my parents were quite tolerant of even acid rock back in the day. Oh, and with my dad being home all of the time since becoming fully disabled in 1967 and not one to let me out of his sight for very long at all, it was not like he was unaware of what I was listening to--neither!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! Yeah, they had a stranglehold on the airways for a time. It really surprised me when they did not last longer than they did.

  11. I followed the link to your FB page and noticed you enjoyed talking about music - something I love to do as well. I'll definitely have to visit more often, Jerry. I finally got to see AC/DC on the Black Ice tour when they made a stop through Fresno, Ca.
    Rock on, good sir!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Jimmy!!! Whoa, I can imagine hearing Hells Bells and Thunderstruck through stage amps as being an absolutely awesome experience. Oh my, I have many memories of Fresno from my trucking days, and some of them are even good! (LOL?)
