ATF: To and From Julian

This weekly series will include as many of my all-time favorite tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to make.  I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Hey Jude
The Beatles
Hey Jude
Don't make it bad
Take a sad song
And make it better
Remember
To let her into your heart
Then you can start
To make it better
Hey Jude
Don't be afraid
You were made to
Go out and get her
The minute
You let her under your skin
Then you begin
To make it better

And anytime you feel the pain
Hey Jude
Refrain
Don't carry the world
Upon your shoulder
For well you know
That it's a fool
Who plays it cool
By making his world
A little colder
Na na na naa-naa
Na-na-naa naaa

Hey Jude
Don't let me down
You have found her
Now go and get her
Let it out and let it in
Remember
Hey Jude
To let her into your heart
Then you can start
To make it better

So let it out and let it in
Hey Jude
Begin
You're waiting for someone
To
Perform with
And don't you know that it's just you
Hey Jude
You'll do
The movement you need
Is on your shoulder
Na na na naa-naa
na-na-naa naaa
Yeah

Hey Jude
Don't make it bad
Take a sad song
And make it better
Remember
To let her under your skin
Then you begin
To make it better
Better
Better
Better
Better
I'm beggin’ you
Better
Oh

Too Late For Goodbyes
Julian Lennon
Ever since you've been leaving me
I've been wanting to cry
Now I know how it feels for you
I've been wanting to die
But it's much too late
For goodbyes
Yes it's much too late
For goodbyes

Time has gone since I've been with you
We've been starting to lie
Now it seems you don't care for me
and I don't understand why
But it's much too late
For goodbyes
Yes it's much too late
For goodbyes

Ever since you've been far away
I've been wanting to fly
Now I know what you meant to me
I'm the one who should cry

And it's much too late
For goodbyes
Yes it's much too late
For goodbyes

Ever since you've been leaving me
I've been wanting to cry
Now I know how it feels for you
I've been wanting to die
But it's much too late
For goodbyes
Yes it's much too late
For goodbyes

  2. Yeah! Yeah...I can take or leave The Beatles. I don't rave on about them like some others do. I do have some favourites of theirs, naturally, though.

    My ex adored them...still does.

We had all of their music; and played it often...amongst everything else. We had a record (and tape - not cassette - tape) collection to match all others! My ex, when we first met as teenagers, was a radio announcer/DJ. We had a pile reel-to-reel tapes and 8-track tape deck as well....

We saw McCartney live in concert during his "Wings Over the World" tour. It was a great concert. The speakers McCartney had on stage were massive and many. Our ears kept ringing and humming for hours later!

On the subject of Paul McCartney, I've just heard - about 10 minutes ago - that he's taken ill and is in hospital in Japan.

  3. Have always enjoyed the Beetles..as much as our own boys The Bee Gee's. Born in England, they migrated and grew up in Oz (Australia) Now I am showing my age LOL... Have you ever heard The Seekers?? they are similar to Peter, Paul and Mary..love them also.. Anyhow, I will post the Seekers on Google for you to hear.Thank you for sharing the treasure of your heart..I can see you are a very caring man.

  4. I remember asking my dad to drive me to White Front so I could buy a copy of Meet the Beatles. My dad asked how much it was and I said $4.95. He said, "That much for just one album?" Times have certainly changed.

  5. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! If I was forced to number my all-time favorite tunes, it would be #1.

  6. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! Being married to Barbara Bach is sure keeping Ringo going.

  7. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Crystal Mary!!! Be assured that there will be at least a couple pre-disco Bee Gee songs in this series before it is all over with, and if I had any guts, I would include a couple of their disco tunes, too. Please don't tell anyone. (LOL?)

  8. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! I was actually a much bigger Three Dog Night fan back in the day, but The Beatles reign supreme now. The most I remember ever paying for an album was $20.00 for a special order of Marshall Tucker's Greatest Hits on the Capricorn label. I left it (along with several other albums) with a friend in Amarillo for safe-keeping while I was gone with a harvest crew for the summer/fall of 1986. When I got back to Amarillo, I was told that he had moved back home to Albuquerque, and all of my efforts to track down him and my albums proved to be fruitless. Sigh.
