This weekly series will include as many of my all-time
favorite tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak). Now, each one included in each edition will
have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination,
but they will not be numbered. For I
just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others. So, this will not be a countdown, but if you
are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter. Besides, with no countdown, this could go on
forever and ever! Oh, and despite the
fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can be as
exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to make. I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

School’s Out
Alice Cooper
Well we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Yeah we can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag
School's
Out
For
Summer
School's
Out
Forever
School's
Been blown
To
Pieces
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's
Dirty looks
Well we got no class
And we got no principals
We ain't got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes
School's
Out
For
Summer
School's
Out
Forever
School's
Been blown
To
Pieces
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's
Dirty looks
Out for summer
Out ‘til fall
We might not come
Back at all
School's
Out
Forever
School's
Out
For
Summer
School’s
Out
Completely
School’s
Been Blown
To
Pieces

Just when I thought I finally
Learned my lesson well
There was more to this
Than meets the eye
And for all the things you taught me
Only time will tell
If I'll be able to survive
Oh yeah
Teacher
Teacher
Can you teach me
Can you tell me all I need to know
Teacher
Teacher
Can you reach me
Or will I fall when you let me go
Oh no
Am I ready for the real world
Will I pass the test
You know it's a jungle out there
Ain't nothin' gonna stop me
I won't be second best
But the joke's on those who believe
The system's fair
Oh yeah
Teacher
Teacher
Can you teach me
Can you tell me if I'm right or wrong
Teacher
Teacher
Can you reach me
I wanna know what's goin' on
All right
So the years go on and on
But nothing's lost or won
And what you learned is soon forgotten
They take the best years of your life
Try to tell you wrong from right
But you walk away with nothin’
Oh no
Teacher
Teacher
Can you teach me
Can you tell me all I need to know
Teacher
Teacher
Can you reach me
Or will I fall when you let me go
Teacher
Teacher
Can you teach me
Can you tell me if I'm right or wrong
Teacher
Teacher
Can you reach me
I wanna know what's goin' on
Ohhh
Teacher
Teacher
Can you teach me
Teacher
Teacher
Can you reach me
Teacher
Teacher
Can you teach me
Teacher
Teacher
Ohhh yeah
Teacher
Teacher
Lyrics From: [elyrics.net]
I had the Alice Cooper album with that song on it when I was in high school. It got played a lot. That and one other song (I never cry) were my favorites on the album
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmm......I'll have to think about these ones! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! The first time I remember ever hearing "School's Out" was it blasting over the intercom speakers in the lounge area outside of the new Cassville High School gym at the end of my freshman year in May of 1973. Be assured that I was very impressed with whoever did that in the office being allowed to (or at least not hearing anything about the mutilation of their body after the deed was done).
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! Well, that is what pursuing an education is all about--right?
ReplyDeleteI missed the Alice Cooper boat but the lyrics of this song remind me of the blissful last days of school when summer stretched before you with endless possibilities.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! Oh yeah, I can remember that feeling. What happened?
