Please Come To
Boston
Dave Loggins
Please come to
Boston for the springtime
I'm stayin' here
with some friends
And they've got
lotsa room
You can sell your
paintings on the sidewalk
By a café where I
hope to be workin' soon
Please come to
Boston
She said no
Would you come home
to me
And she said
Hey ramblin' boy
Now won’tcha settle
down
Boston ain't your
kinda town
There ain't no gold
And there ain't
nobody like me
I'm the number one
fan
Of the man
From Tennessee
Please come to
Denver with the snowfall
We'll move up into
the mountains so far
That we can't be
found
And throw I love
you echoes down the canyon
And then lie awake
at night
‘Til they come back
around
Please come to
Denver
She said no
Boy would you come
home to me
And she said
Hey ramblin' boy
Why don’tcha settle
down
Denver ain't your
kinda town
There ain't no gold
And there ain't
nobody like me
‘Cause I'm the
number one fan
Of the man
From Tennessee
Now this drifter's
world goes 'round and 'round
And I doubt that
it's ever gonna stop
But of all the
dreams I've lost or found
And all that I
ain't got
I still need to
lean to
Somebody I can sing
to
Please come to L.A.
to live forever
California life
alone is just too hard to build
I live in a house
that looks out over the ocean
And there's some
stars that fell from the sky
Livin' up on the
hill
Please come to L.A.
She just said no
Boy won't you come
home to me
And she said
Hey ramblin' boy
Why don’tcha settle
down
L.A. can't be your
kinda town
There ain't no gold
And there ain't
nobody like me
No no
I'm the number one
fan
Of the man
From Tennessee
I'm the number one
fan
Of the man
From Tennessee

(with Willie Nelson)
The only two things
in life
That make it worth
livin'
Is guitars that
tune good
And firm-feelin'
women
I don't need my
name in the marquee lights
I got my song
And I got you with
me tonight
Maybe it's time we
got back
To the basics of
love
Let's go to
Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and
Willie
And the boys
This successful
life we're livin'
Got us feudin’ like
the Hatfields and McCoys
Between
Hank Williams' pain
songs and
Newberry's train
songs
And Blue Eyes
Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas
Ain't nobody
feelin' no pain
So baby let's sell
your diamond ring
Buy some boots and
faded jeans
And go away
This coat and tie
is chokin’ me
In your high
society
You cry all day
We've been so busy
Keepin' up with the
Jones
Four-car garage
And we're still
buildin’ on
Maybe it's time we
got back
To the basics of
love
Let's go to
Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and
Willie
And the boys
This successful
life we're livin'
Got us feudin' like

Great songs...thanks for my morning melodies! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! I am really glad you enjoyed them.
ReplyDeleteHello Jerry,
ReplyDeleteSome great songs! Of course, the first one will especially hold special meaning due to the tragic events that occurred at the Boston Marathon. Thoughts and prayers to all impacted by those events (and really, to all of us in this country - we stand united, Boston Strong).
Thanks for stopping by, my dear Joseph!!! Yes, I found it quite interesting that this piece lined up so well with current events. For I had settled on Dave Loggins song as being one of the two several weeks ago. Oh, and Luchenbach is not all that far from where that fertilizer plant explosion happened in West, Texas.
ReplyDeletePlease Come to Boston has always been one of my favorite songs.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of both Willie Nelson and the late, great Waylon Jennings. I've many CDs by the both of them.
ReplyDeleteI saw Willie live in concert back in early 2002...and he was wonderful!
Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! I am really glad you enjoyed this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Lee!!! Alas, the closest I ever got to Willie was washing the bugs off of his bus' windows when he was in route to the first Farm Aid concert back in 1985 (I think). Oh, but I did get to actually meet Jerry Reed while I was working at that 76 Truck Stop in Amarillo, Texas. Although, I did not realize that it was him until after he had left because of him being in a regular vehicle on his way to that very same Farm Aid concert. At least one of Willie's crew gave me a commemorative handkerchief, which I gave to one of the "girls" on the block near to the motel I was living out of on Amarillo Boulevard at the time.
ReplyDeleteAh, the memories. Sigh.
Loggins? Logoff!
ReplyDeleteWaylon? Way, way too long!
Thanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! It would seem that your hearing has not improved. So much for the quality of British universal healthcare--huh?
ReplyDeletePlease come to Boston was a good choice after recent events.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Well, as I told Joseph earlier, both songs were picked for this weeks ago. So, it had nothing to do with trying to be topical on my part.
ReplyDeleteGood memories, Jerry.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Lee!!! Indeed.
