TFT: Carrie Underwood

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Jesus, Take The Wheel
Carrie Underwood
She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy
With the baby in the backseat
 Fifty miles to go
And she was running low
On faith and gasoline
It'd been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind
And she didn't pay attention
She was going way too fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on
A thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
 She was so scared
She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel
 Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this on my own
 I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on
 Jesus  take the wheel

It was still getting colder
When she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat
Sleeping like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said I'm sorry for the way
 I've been living my life
I know I've got to change
 So from now on tonight

Jesus take the wheel
 Take it from my hands
‘Cause I can't do this on my own
 I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
To save me from this road I'm on
 Oh Jesus take the wheel
Oh I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
 From this road I'm on
 Jesus take the wheel
 Oh
Take it take it from me
 Oh
Oh

Blown Away
Carrie Underwood
Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Her daddy was a mean old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weatherman called for a twister
 She prayed
Blow it down

There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

 Shatter every window
‘Til it’s all blown away
Every brick
Every board
Every slammin’ door
Blown away
 ‘Til there’s nothing left standin’
Nothing left of yesterday
 Every tear-soaked whiskey memory
Blown away
Blown away

She heard those sirens screamin’ out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screamin’ of the wind
Some people called it takin’ shelter
 She called it sweet revenge

 Shatter every window
‘Til it’s all blown away
Blown away
Every brick
Every board
Every slamming door
Blown away
Blown away
 ‘Til there’s nothing left standin’
Nothing left of yesterday
 Every tear-soaked whiskey memory
Blown away
Blown away
Blown away

There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There’s not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

Shatter every window
‘Til it’s all blown away
Blown away
Blown away
 Every brick
Every board
Every slammin’ door
Blown away
Blown away
‘Til there’s nothing left standing
Nothing left of yesterday
Blown away
 Every tear-soaked whiskey memory
Blown away
Blown away
Blown away
Blown away
Blown away
Blown away
Blown away
Blown away

  1. Well she doesn't twang but tell me, are there any young female country singers who aren't blond and stick thin, besides Wynonna Judd, I mean. (But then again she ain't all that young) And who is that emaciated thin girl with the weird eyes - is she country?

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Would you be referring to Lady Gaga? If so, I think she is from a country, but I am not sure from which one, nor the solar system. (Oh yeah, her turn in this series is coming.)

  7. No, I looked it up and I was referring to Taylor Swift - that is one very strange looking human being. I was just making the point that all these female country singers appear to have been cloned - blond and emaciated with decent voices and songs that all sound the same. Country used to be a bit more in tune (so to speak) with average folks...

As for Lady Gaga - makes me want to gag (a).

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Whoa, you must have access to pictures that my wife and I have not seen. For we both consider Taylor to be absolutely gorgeous.
