Simon & Garfunkel vs. The Bangles

Hazy Shade of Winter
Simon & Grafunkel
Time time time
See what’s become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please

But look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter

Hear the Salvation Army band
Down by the riverside
It’s bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry your cup in your hand

And look around
Leaves are brown now
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter

Hang on to your hopes my friend
That’s an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
It’s simply pretend
That you can build them again

Look around
The grass is high
The fields are ripe
It’s the springtime of my life

Aaah
Seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won’t you stop and remember me
At any convenient time
Funny how my memory slips
While looking over manuscripts
Or unpublished rhyme
Drinking my vodka and lime

I look around
Leaves are brown now
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow
On the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow
On the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow
On the ground

Hazy Shade of Winter
The Bangles
Time time time
See what’s become of me

Time

Time time time
See what’s become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please

But look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter

Hear the Salvation Army band
Down by the riverside
It’s bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry your cup in your hand

And look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter

Hang on to your hopes my friend
That’s an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again

Look around
The grass is high
The fields are ripe
It’s the springtime of my life

Aaah
Seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won’t you stop and remember me

But look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a hazy shade of winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow
On the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow
On the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow
On the ground

  1. Simon & Gart were proper musicians. The Bangles just a girlie group, talentless but good to look at.

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! Granted, Simon & Garfunkel were truly great musicians, but I actually like The Bangles version of this song better. For Simon & Garfunkel's is rather dark in comparison. Of course, considering what the song is about, it is arguable that dark is more appropriate.

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Well, there I went and complimented you on finally starting to listen to Duke, and here you are acting like you've never heard a word he's said.
