Smells Like Teen Spirit
Nirvana
Load up on guns
Bring your friends
It’s fun to lose
And to pretend
She’s overboard
Self-assured
Oh no
I know
A dirty word

Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello

With the lights out
It’s less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid
And contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us

A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido

Yay

Yay

Yay

I’m worse at what
I do best
And for this gift
I feel blessed
Out little group
Has always been
And always will
Until the end

Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello

With lights out
It’s less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid
And contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us

A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido

Yay

Yay

Yay

And I forget
Just why I taste
Oh yeah
I guess it makes me smile
I found it hard
It was hard to find
Oh well
Whatever
Never mind

Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello
How low
Hello
Hello
Hello

With the lights out
It’s less dangerous
Here we are now
Entertain us
I feel stupid
And contagious
Here we are now
Entertain us

A mulatto
An albino
A mosquito
My libido
A denial
A denial
A denial
A denial
A denial
A denial
A denial
A denial
A denial

Smells Like Nirvana
Weird Al Yankovic

What is this song
All about
Can’t figure any
Lyrics out
How do the words
To it go
I wish you’d tell me
I don’t know

Don’t know
Don’t know
Don’t know
Oh no
Don’t know
Don’t know
Don’t know

Now I’m mumblin’
And I’m screamin’
And I don’t know
What I’m singin’
Crank the volume
Ears are bleedin’
I still don’t know
What I’m singin’
We’re so loud
And incoherent
Boy this oughta
Bug your parents

Yeah

It’s so
Unintelligible
I just can’t get it
Through my skull
It’s hard to bargle
Nawdle Zouss
With all these marbles
In my mouth

Don’t know
Don’t know
Don’t know
Oh no
Don’t know
Don’t know
Don’t know

Well we don’t sound
Like Madonna
Here we are now
We’re Nirvana
Sing distinctly
We don’t wanna
But our album
We’re Nirvana
A garage band
From Seattle
Well it sure beats
Raisin’ cattle

Yeah

And I forgot
The next verse
Oh well
I guess it pays
To rehearse
The lyric sheet’s
So hard to find
What are the words
Oh never mind

Don’t know
Don’t know
Don’t know
Oh no
Don’t know
Don’t know
Don’t know

Well I’m yellin
And we’re playin’
But I don’t know
What I’m sayin’
What’s the message
I’m conveyin’
Can you tell me
What I’m sayin’
So have you got
Some idea
Didn’t think so
Well I’ll see ya
Sayonara
Sayonawa
Ayonawa
Hodinawa
Odinaya
Yodinaya
Yaddayadda
Yaddayadda
Ayiyaaaaaah

  1. Unfortunately I can't watch Weird Al Yankovic in the U.K.:

This video contains content from Vevo, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.

However the track is available on Spotify. Great lyrics :-)

  3. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear John!!! Again, I am so sorry that you cannot see many of these videos over there. Since they are evidently okay over here, I would think that they would be over there, but obviously not. Anyway, I am glad that you could find a way to see it. For Weird Al out did himself on this one--especially in regards to the lyrics about just how ridiculous the lyrics are to Nirvana's version. The lyrics that I had made up in my head make a lot more sense than theirs do--be assured!

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Jen!!! As I told John (kinda, sorta), I had no idea that the actual lyrics to Nirvana's version were so weird, which makes Weird Al's version sound plumb normal. Now that's weird!

  10. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Glenn!!! Could I borrow your secret decoder ring? Yes, I get it that the song is about having sex with under-aged girls, but most of the clues are way too cryptic--even to the point of being undecipherable. On the other hand, that would make it hard for the prosecution to use the lyrics against them in court, which may have been the whole point.

  11. I remember back in the 90's Weird Al had acted as VJ for the day on Much Music... He did that song and also heart shaped box and I've had trouble listening to either song without his lyrics going through my head.

  12. Whoa, I don't think I've ever heard Weird Al's version of Heart-Shaped Box. I'm going to have to try to find it. Thanks for stopping by and telling me about that, my dear Chrystal!!!

  13. Not so much that he did a version of it... more like he sat off camera and played all the characters in the video and acted like the director telling Curt what he expected. lol
But you are welcome none the less :-)

  14. Okay, I understand now, but I would still like to find a video of it if there is one available out there. It sounds hysterical, but of course, isn't that true of about everything that Weird Al does? Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Crystal!!!
