ATF: Analytical Geometry

This series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Ring of Fire
Johnny Cash
Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burns burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burns burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet
I fell for you like a child
Oh but the fire went wild

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burns burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burns burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire
And it burns burns burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

Will the Circle be Unbroken
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
I was standin' by my window
On one cold and cloudy day
When I saw that hearse come rollin'
For to carry my mother away

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord
By and by
There’s a better
Home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord
In the sky

I said to the undertaker
Undertaker
Please drive slow
For this lady you are carrying
Oh I hate to see her go

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord
By and by
There’s a better
Home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord
In the sky

Oh I followed close behind her
Tried to hold up and be brave
But I could not hide my sorrow
When they laid her in the grave

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord
By and by
There’s a better
Home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord
In the sky

I went back home
My home was lonesome
Since mother she was gone
All my brothers and sisters cryin'
What a home
So sad and alone

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord
By and by
There’s a better
Home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord
In the sky

We sang the songs of childhood
Hymns of faith that made us strong
Ones that Mother Mable taught us
And the angels sang along

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord
By and by
There’s a better
Home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord
In the sky
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by Lord
By and by
There’s a better
Home a-waitin'
In the sky Lord
In the sky

  1. Johnny Cash will forever be remembered by generations to come, unless they are just plain stupid. What a talent.
Have you ever seen/heard Cash performing "Pain", originally done by Nine Inch Nails? It was done in the later years of Cash's life.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Susan!!! Yeah, Johnny did an incredible job with that incredible song. Reznor and Nine Inch Nails were picketed by many "good" Christians when they had a concert here several years ago, and there was Johnny Cash covering one of their songs. Plumb interesting--huh?

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Shadow!!! Oh, moving is most definitely not one of my favorite things. Hey, for someone with such talented poetic inclinations, there ought to be something about how difficult moving from one house to another correlates with how difficult moving on in life can be when one tries to take too much of their "stuff" with them.
