This weekly series
will include as many of my all-time favorite tunes as I can get my grubby little
hands on (so to speak). Now, each one
included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only
as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered. For I just cannot bring myself to rate some
higher than others. So, this will not be
a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t
matter. Besides, with no countdown, this
could go on forever and ever! Oh, and
despite the fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can
be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to
make. I am, after all, quite magnanimous
by nature.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps
The Beatles
I look
At you all
See the love
There that's
sleeping
While my guitar
Gently weeps
I look
At the floor
And I see
It needs sweeping
Still my guitar
Gently weeps
I don't know why
Nobody told you
How to unfold
Your love
I don't know how
Someone controlled
you
They bought and
sold
You
I look
At the world
And I notice
It’s turning
While my guitar
Gently weeps
With every mistake
We must surely
Be learning
Still my guitar
Gently weeps
I don't know how
You were diverted
You were perverted
Too
I don't know how
You were inverted
No one alerted
You
I look
At you all
See the love
There that's
sleeping
While my guitar
Gently weeps
I look at you all
Still my guitar
Gently weeps

KISS
Beth
I hear you callin’
But I can't come
home right now
Me and the boys are
playin’
And we just can't
find the sound
Just a few more
hours
And I'll be right
home to you
I think I hear them
callin’
Oh Beth
What can I do
Beth
What can I do
You say you feel so
empty
That our house just
ain't our home
That I'm always somewhere else
And you're always
there alone
Just a few more
hours
And I'll be right
home to you
I think I hear them
calling’
Oh Beth
What can I do
Beth
What can I do
Beth
I know you're
lonely
And I hope you'll
be alright
'Cause me and the
boys will be playin’
All night

Oh, how I love "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Although not the Beatles version, struggling to think of the group, all I can remember is the lead singer is blind.... hmmm, it'll come to me in the strangest of places and time...
ReplyDeleteGeorge is magnificent (although was it not Eric Clapton who played guitar on this?) and Kiss are, er.....
ReplyDeleteI love the Beatles and still have my original White Album (with all the posters except poor Paul's-- don't know what happened to his little 8X10). While My Guitar Gently Weeps is among my favorite.
ReplyDeletei've got 'hard day's night' running in my head, now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Shadow!!! I am drawing a blank on which group that could be.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! It may have been Eric playing much of the lead guitar on that. I know he did contribute to some of their songs, which is rather ironic. For his Layla (via Derek and the Dominos) is about George's first wife, whom Clapton really did go after, and I thought about While My Guitar Gently Weeps being a response (of sorts) to that. In any event, it is actually Paul's bass-line that I find the most appealing to the song.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Julie!!! Did you have Paul's 8x10 under your pillow as you slept?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear TWG!!! Why, pray tell? By the way, are you being able to whistle while you work like a dog?
ReplyDeleteoddly enough, I don't recall hearing that Beatles song until just a couple years ago.
ReplyDeleteI always liked that Kiss song
I loved "KISS"...they always made me feel happy...they still do.
ReplyDeleteMy ex was/is a huge Beatle fan...I got Beatled-out, I think. Some of their music I like...but there many more other bands/groups I prefer over them.
It's all personal choice, isn't it?
Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Methinks it helps to better appreciate KISS' Beth to forego actually watching the video. (LOL?)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! I am a much bigger Beatles fan now than I was back when they were cranking out all of those fantastic tunes. Now, it was love at first hearing with Hey Jude, and I fell in love with their Ticket To Ride while playing a stage band arrangement of it during high school. It was not, however, until the last 20 years or so that I could honestly call myself a big fan of their music.
