This weekly series
will include as many of my all-time favorite tunes as I can get my grubby
little hands on (so to speak). Now, each
one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit
only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered. For I just cannot bring myself to rate some
higher than others. So, this will not be
a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter. Besides, with no countdown, this could go on
forever and ever! Oh, and despite the
fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can be as
exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to make. I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Blinded by the

Revved up like a
deuce
Another runner in
the night
Blinded by the

Revved up like a

Madman drummers
Bummers
Indians in the
summer
With a teenage
diplomat
In the dumps
With the mumps
As the adolescent
pumps
His way into his
hat
With a boulder
On my shoulder
Feelin' kinda older
I tripped
The merry-go-round
With this very
unpleasin'
Sneezin'
And wheezin’
The calliope crashed
to the ground
The calliope crashed
to the ground
But she was
Blinded by the

Revved up like a

Another runner in

Blinded by the

Some silicone
sister
With a manager
mister
Told me I got what
it takes
She said
I'll turn you on
sonny
To something strong
Play the song
With the funky
break
And go-cart Mozart
Was checkin' out
the weather chart
To see if it was
safe outside
And little Early-Pearly
Came by in his
curly-whirly
And asked me if I
needed a ride
Asked me if I
needed a ride
But she was
Blinded by the

Revved up like a

Another runner in
the night
Blinded by the

Revved up like a

Another runner in
the night
Blinded by the
light
She got down
But she never got
tired
She's gonna make it
Through the night
She's gonna make it
Through the night
Mama always told me
Not to look into the
eye's of the sun
But mama
That's where the
fun is
But she was

Because the Night
Patti Smith
Take me now baby
Here as I am
Pull me close
Try and understand
Desire is hunger
Is the fire I
breathe
Love is a banquet
On which we feed
Come on now
Try and understand
The way I feel
When I’m in your
hands
Take my hand
Come undercover
They can’t hurt you
now
Can’t hurt you now
Can’t hurt you now
Because the night
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to love
Because the night
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to us
Have I doubt
When I’m alone
Love is a ring
The telephone
Love is an angel
Disguised as lust
Here in our bed
Until the morning
comes
Come on now
Try and understand
The way I feel
Under your command
Take my hand
As the sun descends
They can’t touch
you now
Can’t touch you now
Can’t touch you now
Because the night
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to love
Because the night
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to us
With love
We sleep
With doubt
The vicious circle
Turns
And burns
Without you
I cannot live
Forgive
The yearning
Burning
I believe
It’s time
Too real
To feel
So touch me now
Touch me now
Touch me now
Because the night
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to love
Because the night
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to us
Because tonight
There are two
lovers
If we believe
In the night we
trust
Because tonight
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to love
Because the night
Belongs to lovers
Because the night
Belongs to us
If we believe
Belongs to lovers
If we believe
In the night we
trust
Because the night
Belongs to lovers…

Blinded by the light takes me back. I never really knew the lyrics to the song but it didn't stop me from attempting to sing along
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Me, neither. I am really glad you enjoyed this, and I am also really glad that Duke finally got you dug out of that snowbank.
ReplyDeletereally like the first tune. :)
ReplyDelete(totally an optical illusion on the gate post due to perspective/angle. both sides equal length.)
Thanks for stopping by, my dear TWG!!! Alas, Arlynda insists that me appearing to be lop-sided is no optical illusion.
ReplyDeleteYou tricked me!
ReplyDeleteI saw Springsteen in the title...and I will spring to anything Springsteen. I love The Boss! I saw him live in concert once...and he was absolutely terrific!
But where is he? He's not here!!
Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! Oh, but he is here. For he wrote both of these songs!

Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Lee!!! Whoa, it looks like he is going to be very busy boy this year. I was shocked to hear (almost three years ago) of the death of Clarence Clemons, who was the sax player for the E Street Band.
ReplyDeleteYes...I was, too, re Clarence Clemons. He was a big man. His thighs were massive!
ReplyDeleteThe night we saw Springsteen and the E Street Band in concert it was raining...and Springsteen yelled out to the crowd: "If you're standing there in the rain to see us, we'll play for you in the rain!"
And at that he ran along the long catwalk that was built out into the centre of the crowd (it was an outdoor arena)...and Clemons followed, playing the sax all the way...how they didn't slip over, I don't know. But play they did...for well over 3 hours, to an adoring crowd.
My husband and I were lucky...we were up in the side stands, undercover. We were living up the coast at the time at Sunshine Beach and we'd driven down to the city to be there. We got there early, long before the gates opened, but we were amongst the first through the gates when they were opened!
At the time it was the largest rock concert in Queensland history...45,000 fans turned out for Springsteen that night. It even beat Springsteen's previous best crowd of 39,000 in New York! So that was a pretty good effort by us Queenslanders from Down Under!
80 shuttle buses were organised to ferry people from the CBD as well as from a major suburban shopping centre to the venue. The stadium where it was held had been built for the 1982 Commonwealth Games.
It was 31st March, 1985 (29 years ago as I write). Wow! Where have those years gone? I remember the concert vividly.
You probably weren't looking for such a long story from me, Jerry...but coincidentally there was an article in yesterday's paper about that particular concert (no doubt because of the date - it's anniversary)...and I'd only just mentioned it to you the other day...so I thought I'd expand on my reminiscences a little! ;)
Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Lee!!! Be assured that I love your accounts, and I greatly appreciate you sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteDid I not comment here before....?
ReplyDeleteManfred Mann win hands down.
Thanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! Nope, no one can accuse you of being a homer.
