This weekly series
will include as many of my all-time favorite tunes as I can get my grubby
little hands on (so to speak). Now, each
one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit
only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered. For I just cannot bring myself to rate some
higher than others. So, this will not be
a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t
matter. Besides, with no countdown, this
could go on forever and ever! Oh, and
despite the fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can
be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to
make. I am, after all, quite magnanimous
by nature.

Stay With Me
Faces
In the mornin'
Don't say you love
me,
'Cause I'll only
kick you out of the door
I know your name is
Rita
‘Cause your
perfume's smellin' sweeter
Since when I saw
you down on the floor
Won't need too much
persuadin'
I don't mean to
sound degradin'
But with a face
like that you got nothin' to laugh about
Red lips
Hair
And fingernails
I hear you're a
mean old Jezebel
Let’s go upstairs
And read my Tarot
cards
Stay with me
Stay with me
For tonight you'd
better stay with me
Stay with me
Stay with me
For tonight you'd
better stay with me
So in the mornin'
Please don't say
you love me
'Cause you know I'll
only kick you out the door
Yeah I'll pay your
cab fare home
You can even use my
best cologne,
Just don't be here
in the mornin'
When I wake up
Come on honey
Stay with me
Stay with me
‘Cause tonight you're
gonna stay with me
Sit down
Get up
Get out
Stay with me
Stay with me
‘Cause tonight you’re
gonna stay with me
Hey what's your
name again
Oh no
Get out
No
Oh no
Get yourself home
Slow down baby
Incredible

Hole-Hearted
Extreme
Oooh yeah
Yeah-e
Yeah-e yeahe
Yeah-e yeah yeah
Life's ambition
Occupy my time
Priorities
Confuse the mind
Happiness
One step behind
This inner peace
I've yet to find
Rivers flow
Into the sea
Yet even the sea is
not so full of me
If I'm not blind
Why can't I see
That a circle can't
fit in
Where a square
should be
There's a hole in
my heart
That can only be
filled by you
And this hole in my
heart
Can't be filled
with the things I do
Hole-hearted
Hole-hearted
This heart of stone
Is where I hide
These feet of clay
Kept warm inside
Day by day
Less satisfied
Not fade away
Before I die
Rivers flow
Into the sea
Yet even the sea is
not so full of me
If I'm not blind
Why can't I see
Oh that a circle
can't fit in
Where a square
should be
There's a hole in
my heart
That can only be
filled by you
And this hole in my
heart
Can't be filled
with the things I do
There's a hole in
my heart
That can only be
filled by you
Should've known
from the start
I'd fall short with
the things I do
Hole-hearted
Hole-hearted
Hole-hearted
Hole-hearted
Hole-hearted
Hole-hearted
Yeah
Yeah

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! Could you not get Hole-Hearted?
ReplyDeleteReally going on that thought of having a hole in one's heart....I so hate that feeling of a hole in my heart. Sometimes you just have to let some folks go in your life...and eventually your heart will become whole again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Karen!!! The song is actually about the only One who can fill such a hole, but be assured that I am all too painfully acquainted with having your heart torn asunder by someone you thought would never let you down. Alas, I still suffer from such. For there is still far too much of "me" left intact for my comfort.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is the very young Rod Stewart! How could one not like Rod?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! Dare I ask if you thought he was sexy, and maybe still do?
ReplyDeleteI probably don't think he's sexy as such...to me Rod has always been the cheeky, impish, mischievous rascal always ready for a bit of fun...and there's nothing wrong with that. He's always had the twinkle in his eyes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Lee!!! Yes, "impish" serves as a very good description of him. Just for the sake of clarity, my previous question about whether or not you thought he was sexy, was in reference to his huge hit, Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?, from the late 70s.
ReplyDeleteP.S.: Don't worry, Rod Stewart's Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? will not be included in this series. (LOL?)
