TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Indian Reservation
Paul Revere & The Raiders

They took the whole Cherokee Nation
Put us on this reservation
Took away our ways of life
The tomahawk
And the bow and knife
Took away our native tongue
And taught their English to our young
And all the beads we made by hand
Are nowadays made in Japan

Cherokee people
Cherokee tribe
So proud to live
So proud to die

They took whole Indian nation
Locked us on this reservation
Though I wear a shirt and tie
I’m still a red man deep inside

Cherokee people
Cherokee tribe
So proud to live
So proud to die

But maybe someday when they learn
The Cherokee Nation will return
Will return
Will return
Will return
Will return

Hungry
Paul Revere & The Raiders

Girl you got this need to know
What I’m all about
There was something that you dig
You can’t figure out
Well now you want to know
What moves my soul
And what dips inside of my brain
Well I got this need
I just can’t control
And it’s driving me insane
I can’t take it

Because I’m hungry for those good things baby
Hungry through and through
I’m hungry for that sweet life baby
With a real fine girl like you

I can almost taste it baby
And it’s sweet as wine

A custom tailored world
That I’ve gotta own
With a penthouse in the sky
And we’ll both be stoned
Girl I’m gonna have it all someday
If you’ll just hang on to my hand
If I break some rules along the way
Girl you
You gotta understand
It’s my way of getting’ what I want now
Because I’m hungry

Yes I’m hungry for those good things baby
Hungry through and through
Well I’m hungry for that sweet life baby
With a real fine girl like you

I can almost taste it now
Oh it’s sweet as wine
Well I ain’t gonna waste it now
When it’s finally mine

Gonna live each minute
Bill the often days
‘Til I’ve had my fill
Ah girl I’ll be rollin’ in it
Yes
Yes you know I will
Yes I will

‘Cause I’m hungry for those good things baby
Hungry through and through
I’m hungry for that sweet life baby
With a real fine girl like you

I just can’t take it now
You gotta hold my hand

You can help me make it now
I’ll be a big big man

Oh girl ‘cause I’m hungry for those good things baby
Hungry through and through
I’m hungry for that sweet life baby
With a real fine girl like you

I’m so hungry now
It gotta have a good life
I’m hungry through and through
I want the world now
Hungry for that sweet life baby
With a real find girl like you

  1. He would have to call it. "native American Nation" now.
    Good one.

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! Yes, I suppose they would. Be assured that I am not all the "PC" myself, but I do care about truly offending people. (You are an exception to that rule, of course.) Anyway, I'm glad you liked the song. It is one of my all-time favorites--both on account of the song itself and that my mom was half Cherokee.

  3. I love that first one. There is a country song (which my husband hates with a capital H) that uses just a short piece of that song and he complains every time because they copied it.

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! I'll have to ask my wife about that country song. For she keeps up with what is what on the country scene a lot more than I do. Has your husband heard any of Taylor Swift's attempts to sing Def Leppard songs? I can imagine what he thinks if he has. Anyway, I am really glad you enjoyed this.
