Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

America
Neil Diamond
Far
We’ve been travelin’ far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream
On the boats and on the planes
They’re comin’ to America
Never lookin’ back again
They’re comin’ to America
Home
Don’t it seem so far away
Oh we’re travelin’ light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm
Home
To a new and a shiny place
Make our bed and we’ll say our grace
Freedom’s light burnin’ warm
Freedom’s light burnin’ warm
Everywhere around the world
They’re comin’ to America
Every time that flag’s unfurled
They’re comin’ to America
Got a dream to take ‘em there
They’re comin’ to America
Got a dream they’ve got to share
They’re comin’ to America
They’re comin’ to America
They’re comin’ to America
They’re comin’ to America
They’re comin’ to America
Today
Today
Today
Today
Today
My country ‘tis of thee
Today
Sweet land of liberty
Today
Of thee I sing
Today
Of thee I Sing
Today
Today
Today
Today

Pretty Amazing Grace
Neil Diamond
Pretty amazing grace
Is what You showed me
Pretty amazing grace
Is who You are
I was an empty vessel
You filled me up inside
And with amazing grace
Restored my pride
Pretty amazing grace
Is how You saved me
And with amazing grace
Reclaimed my heart
Love in the midst of chaos
Calm in the heat of war
Showed with amazing grace
What love was for
You forgave my insensitivity
And my attempt to then mislead You
You stood beside a wretch like me
And pretty amazing grace
Was all I needed
Stumbled inside the doorway
Of your chapel
Humbled and awed by everything
I found
Beauty and love surround me
Freed me from what I feared
Asked for amazing grace
And You appeared
You overcame my loss of hope and faith
Gave me a truth I could believe in
You led me to a higher place
Showed Your amazing grace
When grace was what I needed
Look in a mirror
I see Your reflection
Open a book You live
On every page
I fall and You’re there to lift me
You share every road I climb
And with amazing grace
You ease my mind
I came to you with empty pockets first
When I returned I was a rich man
Didn’t believe love could quench my thirst
But with amazing grace
You showed me that it can
In Your amazing grace
I had a vision
From that amazing place
I came to be
Into the night I wandered
Wandering aimlessly
Found Your amazing grace
To comfort me
Pretty amazing
Pretty amazing
Pretty amazing
Pretty amazing
Pretty amazing
Pretty amazing
Pretty amazing
Pretty amazing
You overcame my loss of hope and faith
Gave me a truth I could believe in
You led me to that higher place
Showed me that love
And truth
And hope
And grace
Were all I needed

I love Neil Diamond. My step daughter went to one of his concerts when she lived in Las Vegas.
ReplyDeleteI think the video to "America" is from "The Jazz Singer," and I hear that his real concerts are just as dramatic. Therefore, I imagine she had a wonderful time. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! He seems to be one of those singers whose music transcends time; his songs are still going strong :o)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I want to get up and shake a leg every time I hear "Crackin' Rosie" or "Cherry Cherry," which is really saying something considering my health. "Pretty Amazing Grace" is a fairly new song, however. I don't really care for the bossa-nova (or whatever it is) beat to the song, but the words really blow me away. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Jen!!!
ReplyDeleteAh, the Jazz Singer. I'm a dork--I like Neil Diamond.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Lin!!! I always thought liking John Denver makes one a dork (which I am to a certain extent). Maybe it's different down here?
