SiteHoundSniffs.com has Launced!!!

After a year and a half of setbacks, the new site directory is finally up and open for business.  Well, not exactly.  For any business to be conducted will have to wait until enough traffic comes by.  Until then, everything [SiteHoundSniffs.com] has to offer is completely free of charge, and after enough traffic starts coming by to attract advertisers, I hope to institute a revenue-sharing program.  Needless to say, I need your help with drawing attention to the site before there can any money to spread around.

To be completely honest about it, I am not real happy with the way the site looks so far.  One of the things I have learned is that WordPress will not accept any fancy text formatting that can be done with MS Word.  So, aside from wasting a ton of time upon MS Word formatting, I have had to settle for working with just the Arial font.  There is a plugin to allow for the use of Google Fonts, but it will not work with the current version of WordPress.  I suppose the same situation applies to first copying text to a Google Doc, which will accept a great deal of MS Word formatting, and then pasting it into the WrodPress text editor, which is supposed to work according to last year’s [Tessaract Theme/WordPress tutorial] by Tyler Moore.

Alas, I have made too many mistakes to get into.  At least I think I know a little more about what I am doing, but that has meant that the next disaster just has not happened yet.

The next step is to ask the 1,767, who have not yet given permission to display their header, for permission to do so.  I will then start adding sites.  The original plan was to launch with at least 5,000 sites listed, but when I discovered a better way to process them and had to start almost completely over, the first round was cut-down to 1,785 from 78 countries.  Learning the country of origin for sites has been really interesting to me, and I hope it will be for you, as well.

In regards to our physical health issues, Arlynda has not fallen since the last time almost two months ago, and she has regained almost full use of her right arm.  Her primary care physician moved to St. Louis, and we are now having a hard time finding her another to write the dozen (or so) prescriptions she has for her non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and other things.  Her specialists will not do it.  My primary care doctor also moved out of town, but I have an appointment to see his replacement next month.  My high blood pressure and other “stuff” is being well-controlled by the medications I am currently taking.  So, I am hoping that he will not be hard to deal with.  There appears to still be no treatment for my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome condition.

Please let me know what you think about [SiteHoundSniffs.com].  Hey,  Grayson will probably most definitely agree with you if you think it is not all that.  Sigh.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! I just found out that her old primary care doctor did indeed renew her prescriptions for another few months before packing up his shingle. Hopefully, we will be able to find another within the same system so the her records will be a lot more accessible by the new doctor.

  2. OK, I'm back and let me say I like it. I may end up getting lost in the Arts/Crafts section today and will probably get fired for not showing up for work tomorrow. I'm quite sure I'll find plenty of new and interesting blogs to follow.

    1. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Well, I sure don't want to get you fired, but I am glad that you like what you see so far. I will get the ones in the Arts/Crafts category left out of the first round listed as soon as I can.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Gorges!!! Yeah, thee is probably a way to automate much of it with coding, but my eyes are still not good enough to let me. Hey, I have not got around to leaving a comment on your last post asking for permission to display your site header yet. So, may we?

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Grace!!! I am sure glad you are liking it. I had Dragon's Alley listed, but dropped it when I saw that you had taken it private the last time I paid a visit weeks ago. Now, that it is back in the public eye, I will add it again. May we display your header like the others?

  8. I had expectations. I am definitely not disappointed! I think the best part is that in order to get that done, I tell myself that you must have been at least feeling up to that, if not to a lot of other good things! Thanks for asking to use my header, and of course I would appreciate your using it!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Penny!!! Well, I am quite sure that there is an easier way to do it. If my eyesight improves, maybe I can learn how to work with PHP a lot more and automate many of the steps I am having to manually repeat over and over again.

  9. Congratulatulations with the launch A great effort and I will add it to my links. I love to see blogs organised by country and I already saw to fantastic bloggers in the netherlands like Tara Bradford and the Dutches
(the latter was born on the same day as me :)
Good luck with your endeavour and thanks for including me

    1. You are most welcome, and thank you for being so considerate, my dear Marja!!! Alas, the European sites (aside from the UK) have largely ignored my requests to display their header so far. I hope that will change by the time the word gets out that SiteHoundSniffs is not some sort of spam scam. By the way, I have not tried to contact your favorite sites yet. I would really appreciate it if you would put in a good work for me so that they might be more receptive when I do.

    2. You mean Tara and the dutches?
Tara doesn't blog anymore but I will ask the dutches of you can use her header A lot of work you have on your hands I put the picture of the dog on my sidebar :)

    3. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Marja!!! I really appreciate that. I have making my requests in alphanumeric order, but since it would probably be at least two weeks before I got to The Dutchess, I will skip ahead to ask her while she has your healp in mind.

  10. Hi Jerry. Sorry I've not been dropping by as often as I'd like - like you, I'm trying to get a new web project off the ground and finding it very time-consuming! Love your new site and thanks for including A Bit About Britain on it. You CAN use different fonts in Wordpress - try a plugin called TinyMCEAdvanced - this definitely works with the most recent version of Wordpress. But plugins also need to work with the theme you choose. The theme will determine your basic font, probably. I write ALL of my copy in Word, then copy/paste and attend to formatting within the site itself. Be sure to 'paste as text' - read up on this. I'm learning as I go - it's a huge change from 'Blogger', that's for sure! Drop me an email if you want to bounce ideas around. Sorry to hear about the health issues - hope all well now. Best regards, Mike.

    1. You are most welcome, and thanks for being so considerate, my dear Mike!!! I am sorry that you are struggling to master the tricks to WordPress, but it is good to know that I am not the only one. (LOL?) I will try that plugin, but now that I would have to change so much... I am still able to copy and paste straight from Word. Pasting to text is addressed in Tyler's tutorial, but I was afraid that this would eliminate the links, which would be disastrous. So, I have never tried it.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear CountryMum!!! Well, it is only just begun, and I will adding new sites after I complete asking for permission to display the headers of those listed in the first round. I have the links for at least 4,000 more now, and I am quite confident of at least doubling that number as soon as I can get around to it. I hope to have a million or more listed by the time I wear out. Anyway, thank you so very much for giving permission to display your header for Farm-ily. Aside from the All category and the slideshow on the Home page, you can see your header under Daily Life, Land/Sea/Skyscapes, Photography and Australia.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Hootin' Anni!!! Be assured that I greatly appreciate the encouragement. Since my eyes are still too bad to allow me to learn how to automate things through coding, I am doing everything manually. Therefore, I am going to be very reluctant to roll with the header changes because of how much more work it will be and I am already almost overwhelmed. Nonetheless, I will see about changing yours (probably in the spring) because of there being Halloween-dedicated sites listed and I would not want those unfamiliar with your great works to think your focus is limited.

  17. I am disappointed to discover BlogDogIt.com is not listed among your listed sites. Maybe someday if I play my cards right I could find my site "hound-sniffed." If ever I do I would encourage you to "header" me too - while we're on the subject please see: "Throw BlogDogIt a bone" http://blogdogit.com/article.php?story=20121112200140585

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Masodo!!! Your wish is my command. I have done fetched your header and it can now be seen under All and Entertainment. I could not find a country of origin for BlogDogIt.com. So, if you will let me know, I will list it under the country, as well. If you could say something (preferably good) about SiteHoundSniffs, com here and there, I would greatly appreciate it.

    3. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Masodo!!! I am literally sitting here with tears of gratitude welled up in my eyes after reading your article on SiteHoundSniffs when I went to leave a comment informing you that BlogDogIt is now listed under the United States. I am waiting on receiving my password so that I can leave that comment. Yeah, I know that cool kids are not supposed to cry, but your efforts have really touched me. I will continue blubbering over there when I receive the cipher.
