Lost on a Dirt Road

A couple of weeks after announcing that the new site directory was basically ready to launch a couple of months ago, I had one of my epic dreams.  I consider them to be epic because of how realistic they seem to be and how very clear memories of the dream stay with me for days.  This one involved being on the truck and heading across the country with a load of produce bound for Brooklyn, NY.  The dream started with me being behind the wheel and noticing that I was now driving on a dirt road somewhere in western Pennsylvania—not I-80.  Even though the dirt road was firm and smooth, I panicked.  For I did not know exactly where I was, nor if there were any bridges insufficient to hold my weight just around the bend.  Oh no, there was no place to just turn around and go back to where I had got off of the interstate.  My panic grew and grew each time I stopped in a small town (without any side-streets, nor intersecting roads) to ask just where I was and how to get back to the interstate because the only answers I received were that I was where I was at and that they had never heard of an interstate highway, nor where I might be on my map.  Furthermore, I was running low on fuel and only had $100 in cash to buy diesel since no one in the towns I stopped in had ever heard of a fuel charge card—let alone accept the one I had.  The dream ended without me making it out of the nightmare alive and left me with a very uneasy feeling about heading in the wrong direction with the development of the new site directory.

While finding more and more mistakes I had made in the processing of the information the new site directory will provide, I swallowed hard and played with a new process, which would involve starting almost completely all over.  Thankfully, it is a much better way, and I was amazed at how much faster the processing was going.  In fact, I was even planning on launching a scaled-down version of the new directory on the anniversary of the beginning of my nightmarish hospital stay last year on September 4th.

On July 19th, Arlynda was out with her mother and fell hard on her rear on the sidewalk to an auto parts store.  This was the first of four times she has fallen since.  I will forego including anymore details, but work on the new site directory has come to an almost complete halt because of me spending my available energy upon doing what I can for Arlynda.  Be assured that I really miss visiting your sites, and I hope you-all have been doing at least relatively well.  I still have hope that things will at least get back to normal for us, but I have no idea when that might be.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Silver Fox!!! I suppose I should just grin real big and concede that it is all part of the "fun," but it sure gets hard to grin at times.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Gorges!!! Yes, indeed it could have been, and I wondered about me being lost in West Virginia instead of Pennsylvania. For the road was at the bottom of a deep hollow with the buildings of the towns being perched on the hillside in a single row on both sides, and I have actually seen this there while taking some scenic-routes I should not have taken.

  3. Well that was some dream you had. Sorry to hear about Arlynda falling. Hope she'll be doing better soon and feeling well.
Since it's been so long since we've heard from you I'll even go as far as admitting I've missed seeing you around :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Oh, it is so very good to hear from you again. I was afraid I had upset you enough so that you did not want to come around anymore.

  5. Wow, that's an intense dream and I hate those dreams where I don't know how I got out of the mess except by waking up.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Sage!!! Oh, I have had several that continued until I became fully awake and realized where I was actually at. The thing I kept being reminded of is that I remain relatively unscathed in these dreams, with only the threat of disaster being there.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Kim!!! Yes, Arlynda is being able to use her right arm more and more, which was hurt in the third fall, and she has not fallen again. So, she is indeed getting better. Thank you so very much for caring.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! Well, I actually did experience something fairly similar. It happened the first time I headed to the Kraft Foods plant in Lowville, NY. I was heading north out of Rome, NY on a state highway (I think) and spotted some road construction ahead signs. They weren't kidding. For they had removed the pavement down to dirt in both directions for a couple of miles or so. What was left was firm and smooth for a dirt road, but it still came as quite a shock. I took a different route the next time I had to go to Lowville. By the way, you should appreciate the fact that the workers I interacted with at the plant insisted that the name of the town was pronounced: Loo/Lou/Lew-ville.

  10. Jerry, I do hope that things are looking better now. I havent been in Blogland for a while, and I missed this post when it came out. It is so difficult when a person has one fall, then it makes them walk awkwardly and be more likely to have another. I do hope Arlynda is improving now.
That dream is really creepy, reminds me of a film somehow, the way you can think you are one place and really be another. So good to realise that it is only a dream, nevertheless. Hope that you soon get a helping hand to pull things together.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Jenny!!! Yeah, I imagine hanging out on Pooh Corner can take up a lot of time. Arlynda is almost back to normal for her, and I hope to publish an announcement about the new site directory in a few days. One really good thing that came from her being hurt was that she lost most of her appetite, which resulted in her losing over 50 pounds that desperately need to stay lost! (LOL?)

  11. Hi Jerry,
I just read this post about your dream. I feel the dream is actually positive not negative.
The road was not man made, it was firm and smooth. It reminds me of the road we are on in our walk with the Lord - not man made but firm and smooth. It was only your fears coming from what your carnal mind was implying you needed to carry on down that road that was the problem. That is how our walk with the Lord is, our carnal mind causing fear and doubt because we are on an unchartered road. We have no need to fear though Jerry because if we trust in the Lord as He leads us along that road we have a beautiful final destination to look forward to.
Glad to hear that your wife is improving.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Brenda!!! Yes, being shown that one is going in the wrong direction with something is indeed a positive, and it is even better when they heed the message.
