This series will include as many of my all-time
favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak). Now, each one included in each edition will
have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination,
but they will not be numbered. For I
just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others. So, this will not be a countdown, but if you
are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter. Besides, with no countdown, this could go on
forever and ever! Oh, and despite the
fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite
as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make. For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by
nature.

Hold the Line
Toto
It's not in the way that you hold me
It's not in the way you say you care
It's not in the way you've been treating my friends
It's not in the way that you'll stay ‘til the end
It's not in the way you look
Or the things that you say
That you do
Hold the line
Love isn't always on time
Whoa whoa whoa
Hold the Line
Love isn’t always on time
Whoa whoa whoa
It's not in the words that you told me girl
It's not in the way you say you're mine
It's not in the way that you came back to me
It's not in the way that your love set me free
It's not in the way you look
Or the things that you say
That you do
Hold the line
Love isn't always on time
Whoa whoa whoa
Hold the Line
Love isn’t always on time
Whoa whoa whoa
It's not in the words that you told me
It's not in the way you say you're mine
It's not in the way that you came back to me
It's not in the way that your love set me free
It's not in the way you look
Or the things that you say
That you do
Hold the line
Love isn't always on time
Whoa whoa whoa
Hold the Line
Love isn’t always on time
Love isn’t always on time
Hold the line
Love isn’t always on time
Love isn’t always
Love isn’t always on time
Hold the line
Love isn’t always on time
Love isn’t always on time
Love isn’t always on time
Love isn’t always on time
Whoa whoa whoa

Lay It on the Line
Triumph
It's the same old story
All over again
You turn a lover into
Just another friend
I want to love you
I want to make you mine
Won't you
Lay it on the line
I'm tired of playing
Foolish games
I'm tired of all of your lies
Making me insane
I don't ask for much
The truth'll do just fine
Won't you
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Don't waste my time
You got no right
To make me wait
We better talk girl
Before it gets too late
I never ever thought you
Could be so unkind
Won't you
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Don't waste my time
You know I love you
You know I love you
You know it’s true
You know it's true
It's up to you girl
Now what have I got to do
Don't hold me up girl
Don't waste my precious time
Won't you
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Don't hold me up now
Lay it on the line
No
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line girl
Lay it on the line
Oh don't hold me up
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Lay it on the line
Yeah yeah yeah
Lay it on the line….

Toto was a band worth listening to back in the day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! I must admit that I did not realize they had as many hits as they did.
DeleteGood work thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Martin!!! You are most welcome.
DeleteToto. Hold the line. The first song I learnt when I started drumming.... *smiles*
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Shadow!!! I thought it would probably be a Carpenters song. So, you are not much of a girly-girl--huh? (LOL?)
DeleteWho are you??? I declined playing in a show, a Carpenters show!!! because I just don't feel their music.... Eerie....
DeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Shadow!!! Well, our Heavenly Father and I really are in almost constant communication, but in this instance, I think it had more to do with just a natural observation than anything else. In fact, I was thinking just the opposite of reality, in that I was thinking that you may have first become interested in becoming a drummer because Karen was one. Whereas, you were actually not much of a fan of their music. By the way, Arlynda is a HUGE Carpenters fan, and she can very much be a girly-girl at times. So, I have to maintain my manly-manliness to keep things in balance. Sigh.
DeleteToto had some good songs but I never was a true follower. My ex knew the drummers cousin and said they had a huge following.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Barb!!! It is probably just that I haven't been paying attention, but it has seemed to me that Toto is rarely mentioned when it comes to discussions of great bands. When they are, however, it is usually in reverent tones.
