Not every song that
will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian”
in the eyes of this world. For some will
be anguished cries from the pit of despair while others will be quite obviously
fervent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless,
be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another)
and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.
If
Bread
If a picture paints
a thousand words
Then why can't I
paint you
The words will
never show
The you I've come
to know
If a face could
launch a thousand ships
Then where am I to
go
There's no one home
but you
You're all that's
left me too
And when
My love for life is
running dry
You come
And pour
Yourself
On me
If a man could be
two places at one time
I'd be with you
Tomorrow and today
Beside you all the
way
If the world should
stop revolving
Spinning slowly
down to die
I'd spend the end
with you
And when the world
was through
Then one
By one
The stars would all
go out
Then you and I
Would simply
Fly away
Mother Freedom
Bread
Freedom
Keep walkin'
Keep on your toes
And don't stop
talkin' 'bout
Freedom
Get goin'
Lots to be learned
And lots to be
knowin' 'bout
People
Gotta reach 'em
Sit 'em right down
And then you gotta
teach 'em 'bout
Freedom
Gotta win it
Gotta put yourself
smack dab in it
Hey
Tomorrow
Now don't you go
away
'Cause
Freedom
Just might come
your way
Freedom
Keep tryin'
People stay alive
And people keep
dyin' for
Freedom
So don't lose it
You gotta
understand
You just can't
abuse it
Freedom
Get movin'
Never gonna stop
‘Til everybody's
groovin' on
Love for
One another
Callin' some friend
And callin' some
brother
Hey
Tomorrow
You're not so far
away
Mother
Freedom
We'll know you well
someday

Excellent, i loved Bread, great songs and great lyrics. Reminds me of Cheesecloth shirts, flared trousers and cassettes. Those were the day when you copied your mates records onto cassette and you taped the top 20 on the radio.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Alan!!! "Mother Freedom" reminds me of just how tolerant my rather hardcore dad could be at times. For I would play my 45 of that song over and over and over and over and over (I think you might get the situation by now) again on his beloved Magnavox cabinet console stereo AM/FM radio/record player, which was located fairly close to his chair in the living room. of our not all that big home.
ReplyDeleteThere just aren't bands/groups around like Bread etc., these days...and the loss is ours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! No, there most certainly are not, and it is to our loss.
ReplyDeleteI have always been very fond of that first song
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! It all depended upon how secure I was in a relationship at the time for me.
