Anyway,
with Arlynda being off work on account of falling again, my normal schedule of
getting online around midnight has been somewhat scrambled. Therefore, I was not up when a lightning
strike took out our home computer early last Thursday morning.
No,
we do not have another. So, I started
searching for the best deal possible at exactly 9:01 a.m. CDT. For I wanted to give the good people at our
local Best Buy time to get a sip from their coffee before I started barraging
them with question after question over the phone.
After
securing a guesstimation of what they could do, I called Dell, which is the
only kind of computer we have ever had.
Please do not consider this as being racist, but it was not without some
trepidation that I made that call to Dell.
For I am rather hard-of-hearing, and I usually spend more time having to
ask for something to be repeated whenever I am connected with a foreign call
center than actually making any progress.
Thankfully,
on the other side of the line was the delightful Ms. Debbie in Nashville,
Tennessee. Around 45 minutes later, our
order of a new Inspiron 660 CPU, with Windows 7, Intel i3 processor, 6 GB RAM
and a 1 terrabyte hard drive for a whole lot less than what Best Buy wanted was
completed. She also set us up with free
2-day shipping, but the factory did not actually ship our new CPU until Monday,
which meant that it did not make it here until a few hours ago.
Okay,
I suppose it is a little premature to claim that I am really back. For there are a lot of programs to install
and uninstall—not to mention transferring backed-up files. So, I probably won’t be actually back in the
swing of things for a week or so, but I will endeavor to persevere. Are you sure you didn’t miss me?

Actually, I did wonder where you were! By not seeing you in the blog roll popping up, or stopping by any posts! Glad you're back!
ReplyDeleteI thought you had quit writing me! I am so glad you are back and 'healthy'. sandie
ReplyDeleteI did miss you and even sent an email to the gmail account...I was worried about you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new computer! That is just something you must have. Many will agree.
ReplyDeleteHave you been away then.....?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Karen!!! It is going to take a little while before I become acquainted enough with the system to really get back into the swing of things. Being as technically-challenged as I naturally am, even the most insignificant of things really throw me for a loop.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thank you so very much for caring. I will cross you off of the nasty email list. (LOL?)
Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Sandie!!! Thank you also for caring. I am just now trying to wade through my email inbox. So, if you sent one or more, I will try to get to them as quickly as possible.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Thank you also for caring. Of course, I already realized that sending you a nasty email for not caring would have been a waste of time since you enjoy that sort of thing. (LOL?)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Fisher!!! Well, I don't know if congratulation are in order just yet. For this new system has me quite bumfuzzeled right now. Anyway, thank you so very much for caring, and I hope you get a special treat for being so special.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! Nope, you haven't missed much. So, you can go back to your nap.
ReplyDeleteYour darn tootin I missed you. Duke was packed and ready to hit the road tomorrow morning to find out what happened to you. Glad to hear it was the computer and not something more serious. Not that losing a computer isn't serious but you know what I mean. Glad to see you're back
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! Be assured that I missed you and Duke, too. I will be over to catch up on commenting as soon as I can.
ReplyDeleteHi Jerry,
ReplyDeleteI too have been away for a while to. Have some medical and health problems and also got a new computer which I am still trying to transfer files and updates and back ups.
Had some other family problems come to the forefront so I haven't visited any of your blogs in a while. But I am looking forward to getting back into reading what you write.
Thank you for sharing your mind, heart, soul and spirit. Glad to have you back.
Thanks for stopping by again, my dear G.D.!!! Do you sometimes think that our Heavenly Father may have you confused with someone He has made a whole lot tougher? I know I do when it comes to many of the trials and tribulations that He subjects me to! (LOL?)
