TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd
So
So you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail
A smile from a veil
Do you think you can tell
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts
Hot ashes for trees
Hot air for a cool breeze
And cold comfort for change
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage

How I wish
How I wish you were here
We’re just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found
The same old fears
Wish you were here

Time
Pink Floyd
Ticking away
The moments
That make up a dull day
Fritter and waste
The hours
In an offhand way
Kicking around
On a piece of ground
In the your hometown
Waiting for someone
Or something
To show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun
And you run
And you run
To catch up with the sun
But it’s sinking
Racing around
To come up behind you again
The sun is the same
In a relative way
But you’re older
Shorter of breath
And one day
Closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation
Is the English way
The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I’d something more to say

Home
Home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It’s good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

  1. Time, very good indeed! The other is 'blocked in your country for copyright reasons.' I canny see why?

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! I have run into that before, and I don't understand why it would be okay here and not there. It may just be on account of the embedding. So, if you would like to see the video for the song, follow the link to where it's at on YouTube, and it may play just fine there.

As in regards to "Time," my favorite part is what comes after I recover from the alarm clocks giving me a heart attack and when the singing starts. If you have never heard it coming from really good speakers in a room with great acoustics, be assured that it is absolutely amazing (even better than headphones!).
