TWO FOR TUESDAY {REDO}

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Unanswered Prayers
Garth Brooks
Just the other night
At a hometown football game
My wife and I ran into
My old high school flame
And as I introduced them
The past came back to me
And I couldn’t help but think of
The way things used to be

She was the one
That I’d wanted for all times
And each night I’d spend prayin’
That God would make her mine
And if he’d only grant me
This wish I wished back then
I’d never ask
For anything again

Sometimes I thank God
For unanswered prayers
Remember when you’re talkin’
To the man upstairs
That just because He doesn’t answer
Doesn’t mean He don’t care
Some of God’s greatest gifts
Are unanswered prayers

She wasn’t quite the angel
That I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me
In her eyes too it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn’t much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what He’s doin’
After all

And as she walked away
And I looked at my wife
And then and there I thanked the good Lord
For the gifts in my life

Sometimes I thank God
For unanswered prayers
Remember when you’re talkin’
To the man upstairs
That just because He may not answer
Doesn’t mean He don’t care
Some of God’s greatest gifts
Are unanswered
Some of God’s greatest gifts
Are all too often unanswered
Some of God’s greatest gifts
Are unanswered prayers

The Change
Garth Brooks

One hand
Reaches out
And pulls a lost soul from harm
While a thousand more go unspoken for
And they say what good have you done
By saving just this one
It’s like a whisperin’ a prayer
In the fury of a storm

And I hear them sayin’
You’ll never change things
And no matter what you do
It’s still the same thing
But it’s not the world that I am changing
I do this so
This world will know
That it will not change Me

This heart
Still believes
That love and mercy still exist
While all the hatreds rage
And so many say
That love is all but pointless
In madness such as this
It’s like tryin’ to stop a fire
With the moisture of a kiss

And I hear them sayin’
You’ll never change things
And no matter what you do
It’s still the same thing
But it’s not the world that I am changing
I do this so
This world will know
That it will not change Me

As long as one heart still holds on
Then hope is never really gone

And I hear them sayin’
You’ll never change things
And no matter what you do
It’s still the same thing
But it’s not the world that I am changing
I do this so
This world we know
Never changes Me

What I do is so
This world will know
That it will not change Me

  2. I've always liked Garth Brooks, don't get to hear much of any kind of country anymore. I married to a strictly classic rocker and he HATES country....lol

  3. Garth has a lot of songs that have hit me hard in various ways over the years. I don't know if he will be coming out with any new material, but I heard the other day that he is coming out of retirement to do a show in Vegas. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Split Rock Rancher!!!

  4. I consider myself to be a fairly hardcore classic rocker, but I certainly appreciate several other kinds of music. What blows my mind is that some of the songs that are played a lot on classic rock radio stations were considered country by the powers that be in rock when they first came out. Take Marshall Tucker's "Can't You See" and much of the early Eagles stuff as examples. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!!
